Pap is such a bum. Revere is a guy the Phillies thought would be a Victorino replacement in CF that got outplayed by Rule 5 Draft Pick Odubel Herrera. His biggest attributes are his ability to get on base and his base running

Don't know a lot about Nats players other than the big time guys who have gone through Harrisburg at one point in time in the past few years. The Harrisburg area is flooded with Phillies and Pirates fans so naturally I've always watched the Phillies since they are on more often and closer in proximity. If I had to say I had a favorite team it would be the Phillies in the NL and the Orioles in the AL since they are the two teams I have gone to see live the most.

Blue Jays fan here, I hope you guys love Revere. He was only with the Jays a short time but quickly became my favorite player. He's a solid leadoff guy that will hit .300+ and steal bases while providing reliable defense in the OF.

On the surface I hate this deal for the Jays because Revere was one of very few guys that can help manufacture runs and I don't feel like Toronto needed to add a closer/set-up man with Osuna & Sanchez.

I really hate seeing Revere go :(

Not happy about seeing Storen go, so I guess it is a fair trade.

drew storen wore out his welcome in dc unfortunately, some reasons his fault and others rizzo

two blown postseasons and down the stretch last year was really bad as well as 2013 where he had to be sent down

after coming out demanding a trade after the papelbon get, dc media and fans seemed to turn against him, but nats get something before he bails in free agency next year

Trimble hits a deep 3 with 1.2 seconds left to beat Wisconsin. Best start in school history.

Revere's baserunning and hitting for contact are really all he has. In a sentence, 2 tool guy (speed and contact (sorta)). For a guy who hits for a good average (since he can spray it all over the field), he doesn't have that great of an OBP. He is really undisciplined and rarely ever walks, but can make contact with just about anything and rarely ever strikes out as a result. Problem is, it's really weak contact and he has virtually no power whatsoever. Defensively, he's average when it comes to tracking down fly balls. He takes bad routes, but makes up for it with his speed. His arm, however, is absolutely abysmal. Don't be surprised when you start playing a drinking game that revolves around his inability to hit the cutoff man from shallow LF without short-hopping it.

In general, what you'll get is a mediocre starting OF that is an elite baserunner and an average to below average defender on a whole, and maddeningly inconsistent on offense. When he's cold, you'll be tearing your hair out at how he can't find a hole with his usual grounders and weak floaters. When he's hot, everything he hits (usually a grounder or weak floater) finds a hole and if you let him run, he will be a lot of fun to watch. And that's where the problem with him lied here. He rarely ever ran when he did get on in Toronto, so the majority of his value wasn't even utilized properly. It makes a lot of sense since we have the best offense in baseball and we don't wanna waste outs with Donaldson, Bautista, Edwin, and Tulo AB's and how good they are, but it pretty much reduces Revere to being a capable fill in with inconsistent offense.

I know I'm probably being a little harsh on him, and for all his faults, he's definitely a serviceable, albeit mediocre starting caliber OF, just don't look at that average and stolen base number alone and get too excited. That being said, you'll probably quickly fall in love with him off the field. Dude's full of energy and has a terrific personality and is an awesome interview.

I wish Revere the best of luck with the Nats and hopefully you guys give him the green light to run and utilize him as a bottom of the order bat so you don't have to worry about running into outs being picked off or caught stealing with Rendon and Harper hitting.

The instant the news hit about the trade I distinctly recall him having .38 caliber arm out there. That said he was annoying as hell once he got on base and the hit for average is helpful for the Nationals. Honestly the Nationals are a little too much low average hit the long ball hitters the past couple of years. Thanks for posting I can't disagree with any of your takes on him.

Orioles get Davis signed. $161 mil for 7 years. With a full no trade or opt out.

I'm ok with it. Has potential to be a disaster, but at least they tried.

Now keep Bundy and The young arms healthy.

Shocked when I saw that this morning. That's a huge chunk of cash, but that's what it takes in an uncapped league. I wonder if that rules out Cespedes?

I read in the ESPN story on the signing that it probably would. However, that was probably conjecture on their part, as I didn't see any quotes from Duke or Show.

I think once they got stuck w Wieters 15.8 deal (thankfully only a year), we were precluded from too many moves. I'd rather have Cespedes at 16m than Wieters, but it is what it is.

Wieters coming off the books in a year may allow them to sign someone longer term, but we will see. I wish they didn't have so much money sunk into Ubaldo either. That 30m battery will probably be a killer for them, and their internal budget.

Maybe Angelos will just let them spend more, but I would t hold my breath. Either way, they should be pretty solid next season, if the pitching stays healthy.

Nats said to be offering Cespedes 100 mill over 5 years. I would be thrilled if we picked up Cespedes but it would put us in a pinch with Werths contract and no NTC. But there is no salary cap and it's not my money so I'm all for it!

Rendon
Harper
Cespedes
Zimmerman

Is a pretty dangerous middle of the lineup esp in the NL

Cespedes would certainly make the Nationals hitting lineup a bit more toothsome. At this point I could see making Werth a part time player. Or if getting really aggressive 'win now' this season perhaps trading Taylor.

Cespedes resigns with the Mets. 3 years/75 mil

I dont get the sense nationals actually made an offer. Why would cespedes have turned down a long term deal and instead resigned in ny where he can opt out after one year? Think it was all the agent

Secondly, why would the nats have offered cespedes 100 mil but heyward 200 mil?

Terps (7) @ Spartans (11) on ESPN. Big game.

Terms played like crap. They can't shoot.

I'm not sure about Turgeon the coach. He's a helluva recruiter, but....he's no Gary Williams when it comes to molding the team.

I love their talent. 5 guys that can lead the team, in any given night. But they don't play all that well together (not consistently enough), and I can't see them getting much beyond the sweet 16. At best final 8.

And I hate saying that.

The most popular theme night to attend in all of Minor League Baseball will take place at the Home of the Potomac Nationals on Saturday, July 23rd. In the spirit of anti-commercialism and all-inclusive holiday gatherings, "Halfway to Festivus," a spin-off of a popular made-up holiday originating from one of the most syndicated television shows of all time, Seinfeld, will thoroughly entertain the P-Nats' faithful. The event will feature a Frank Costanza Festivus-themed bobblehead giveaway and a to-be-announced Seinfeld celebrity on hand to meet and greet fans and sign autographs. Meanwhile P-Nats players will be wearing on-field "Halfway to Festivus" parody jerseys that will be signed and auctioned on the stadium concourse to fans. Festivus décor (or lack their of) will don The Pfitz and Festivus/Seinfeld trivia will blanket the outfield jumbo-tron video board. Fans will be encouraged to visit the centerpiece of the evening, the "Festivus Pole," participate in the "Airing of Grievances" on the ballpark concourse, and engage in the "Feats of Strength" on the field during the game. The Nationals also invite fans to take part in a Cosmo Kramer Look-Alike Contest. Free entrance will be granted to any fans with the last name, "Costanza." More theatrics for "Halfway to Festivus" will be announced closer to the event.
