Move over, Mars rover, it's time for an upgrade.

NASA has unveiled a new concept for a vehicle that could one day transport people on the Red Planet.

The latest model is 8.5 metres long, 4.3 metres wide and 3.3 metres high, sitting on six massive wheels and weighing 2.7 tonnes. It can carry up to four astronauts and has a detachable mobile lab.

Looks as though the design concept is straight out of Armageddon. Pretty wicked.

How many rocket payloads would it take to launch this rover?

That concept is not a rover. It's a vehicle. It's also not even made by NASA, but rather a design firm in Florida. It's purely a hype machine. As close as it comes to the 2020 rover is simply that some of the tech they are using for that mission was shared with the design firm.
