Plan D for those that miss out on Kovalchuk, Nash, and whatever their plan C was.

* Plan C can be multiple options, Yakupov is just probably after that.

I think he’s done here. He just doesn’t bring enough offense to make up for what he lacks everywhere else. Sucks because the effort is there and he seems to be a good locker room guy. Hopefully he can become a star in the KHL.

I'd say still developing, but almost done with his development. A decent bottom 6 forward is his ceiling, in my opinion. I actually wouldn't mind it if the Jets signed him for forward depth.

I don't think there is any developing left. He's 24 and has been in the league for 6 years. He is what he is. More than enough raw physical talent, plenty of effort, but he just doesn't think the game at the NHL level. There is no rhyme or reason to how he plays.

Anywhere but the Avs. He's been passed on the depth chart by almost everyone and we won't have any room for him next year even as a 4th line PP triggerman.

It sucks, because he seems like a geniunely awesome human being and a great locker room guy, but he's just bad at hockey.

I said after his rookie year that the Oiler's should trade him while his value was at it's high point & still believe that. He has no idea how to play hockey at the NHL level & it's not an Oiler's development issue.

Love the guy. Don't think much of the player.

Would sign him to a two-way deal so he can spend time between Bakersfield and Edmonton. With the Oil so thin on RW, might as well have him as filler.

I like the energy, and he's a great guy, but he just struggles when the puck is on his stick. He's like a Cocker Spaniel that is a great, loveable dog, but also gets really excited when the doorbell rings and ends up peeing on the floor. You initially kind of hope he grows out of it, but so far, it's been how many years and nothing is really changing. With the dog, you deal with it, because it's your dog and you're not a monster. The analogy kind of falls apart here, because "going to live on the farm upstate" doesn't really translate to hockey, but I think Yakupov's chance to pee on NHL ice is coming to an end.

I think he gets one more shot before he's exiled for good.

He actually impressed me a few times watching him this year (explains all the chances he's been getting) but he's WAY too inconsistent and just isn't cut out to be in this league.

Value? A slightly used hockey puck?

In all seriousness, I think he will be fine in the KHL, more than fine, if he doesn't get one more life line to the NHL.

Has he ever played with a Russian linemate? Maybe Capitals could give him some money and a go.
Ovie could teach him a thing or two, maybe.

The Blues gave him a shot with Tarasenko and it didn't last long because he couldn't handle that sort of role.

Baseball players who were supposed to be hot shit go down to the minors all the time, I feel like the AHL would be good for him.

But it's probably one more weird year with a random NHL team where he can't find a role, then he goes to Russia for good

I wouldn't mind giving Yakupov a try-out and adding him to the revolving door of young RWs we'll likely try with Hall and Hischier.

Those two would absolutely "do the thinking" for him.

Taylor Hall and nail Yakupov don't work.
Hall made Yakupov feel left out on the oilers.
Bob Stauffer from oilers now has said this multiple times.

Thought Sakic was a genius early in the season when he led the team in goals for a short period, but the team was undeniably better when Gabriel Bourque replaced him.

Yak is better than Andrighetto, same age. Better production with a lot less ice time and a better +/-.

It's not Yak. It's how he's being deployed. He didn't go from being 5th in Calder voting to a bad hockey player.

He's a 2nd line winger who should be a pp specialist with that shot
