Why do fans from other teams thinks he's good? What gave you that impression?

It’s because he played in the NHL as a teenage blueliner for a glamour team and didn’t look awful and skates pretty and is still “young” and everybody thinks their team can be the team to resuscitate any youngish players who once showed potential.

But all that proves is development isn’t linear. Whether or not that is the Habs’ fault or his or some combination or just that he genes created him to be a small, weak physique by NHL standards - you Habs fans can suss that out amongst yourselves. But that’s why he has an oversized reputation.

Everything's ain't black or white.

No Mete won't ever be a star defenseman in this league.

But he's +30 in 185 games on a team that never made the playoffs since his arrival in the NHL. He's just 22 yo, which is pretty young for a NHL defensemen with that much experience.

His skating's fluid, he's good at gap control 1 on 1, he has a good first pass and can skate with the puck.

BUT, if he arrives second on the puck in his own zone, which doesn't occur that often but still, he's in big trouble. He can't win a 50/50 battle along the boards and in front of the net. He's very weak physically.

But globally, he could be a serviceable defenseman on a third pair, playing against lesser opponents, on an average team. He just needs a fresh start elsewhere...

His salary is 0,735 mil, future RFA.

Would be a good waver pickup for the Wings/Senators/Buffalo of this world
