I'm liking Ott. He and Jordie Benn are my favorite acquisitions this year. I'm really waiting on Davidson to get a real shot because I get the sense I will like him, too.

Looking forward to the real season (playoffs) since we have more players built for playoffs (some with potential):

<Shaw (PROVEN playoff-winner/warrior)
<Benn (playoff-beard! playoff dman potential)
<King (PROVEN winner ; 2 CUPS)
<Ott (****-disturber, lots of character, can play hockey)
<Danault (playoff warrior potential)
<Mitchell
<maybe Beaulieu (may have warrior/grit potential)
<maybe Gallagher (if he gets HOT for the real season)
<Byron (could be very useful for that PK with his ultra-fast skating)
<Radulov...has very solid playoff pts' stats
<Davidson...playoff dman potential
<Martinsen (if he plays physical and shows energy he will be good for 4th line)
<Weber (hoping he has what it takes for playoffs...he better or else I'll keep ****** about that Subban trade! since PK is one of the best two-way playoff dmen in the NHL with Keith/Doughty/Hedman/Letang for offense).
<Price...really hoping he can stay healthy and get super HOT

Saw a part of 24CH where he learns he has been traded, to the Habs, has him in a car, driving to Montreal stoked about playing for the Habs...I really like this character!!
Seems like such a good team guy............he along with Shaw, will help us in the playoffs...

Except they won't. The playoffs is all about speed, especially the first round. This isn't the old NHL.

We need more speed and talent in the top six. Trading Ghetto, I think will prove to be a mistake. But we really need to get a legit top six forward, or two really.

You don't think Shaw will help in the playoffs?? Then why the **** did we trade for him lol...

he's won 2 cups and has 35 points in 67 playoff games. Sure buddy

In what world would Andrighetto help in the playoffs ? :skeptic:

If you think playoffs are all about speed, eeerrr nope, it's all about grinding, think about it, we've had the same kind of 'small speedy team' for the last 5 years, did we win the SC ? Nope. You need a mix of speed, size, skill, and physical play, especially in the playoffs.

Players like Shaw will get away with stuff they couldn't in regular season wayyy more often, and that was a need.

But, yeah, we need more skill in the top 6, I can't argue with that.

The game is faster sure but there's no doubt in the playoffs size and grit matter.

I despised him when he was with Buffalo but love what he brings to this team!

Exactly...mixing it up with a little bit of this, that...can give you a winning recipe for the playoffs. (speed, skills, grit, physical play, size/height, heart, determination, PK specialists, defensive specialists, face-off specialists, leaders, etc, etc). Just look at the Chicago/Andrew Shaw (3 CUPS) and Los Angeles/Dwight King (2 CUPS) teams...a great mix of everything.

Ghetto is a 2nd liner or 3rd liner...on teams like Colorado (or Las Vegas)...not on a playoff team and definitely not on a contender (unless you have many many injuries to your 2nd and 3rd liners).

And, once Colorado and Las Vegas quickly improve their 2nd and 3rd lines...Ghetto will probably/maybe be back in Europe (Swiss League)...and nothing wrong with that. Good pay if you can get the job.

Go King Go!!
Go Shaw Go!!
(can't wait to see what they will do for our Habs in playoffs).

They playoffs are not about speed, not in today's NHL. Sure the first round ... speed is a factor at times, but the checking is so close.. that our lack of size has always killed us. We could never be the team that initiates physical play, we are always on the receiving end. Come round 2, this team is so beat up, they can't finish a check. We have never been able to wear down a team, not since the big bad team in 93 that had size, grit and skill.

Today's NHL make the playoffs a grind, I can't believe how tight teams make it out there. You have to hit the corners hard to get the puck out.

I think we have enough speed with Byron, Shaw, Gallagher, Max, Rads etc.. and god knows we have some size now... so I like our chances for the first time in a long time.

My fear is Petry. He gets a lot of top line minutes, and he just isn't very good. He has to turn it around, he really hurts this team and I don't trust him in tight games.

Absolutely agree..........as for Petry, boy he has not played well recently...if we are going to call out Emelin, Petry is also right there...
There has to be a couple of games coming up, where our regular Dmen get a game off here and there, to get Davidson in there...Petry could use a game off...

Never cared for Ott but have to say he's been better then I expected and looks to be a solid 4th liner for us. One things for sure, with Ott, Shaw, Gallagher, Martinsen, King, McCarron, Emelin, Weber, whoever we face in the playoffs their HF fans are really going to hate us.:yo:

Reminds this old Habs fan of Max Lapierre's funny expressions, he could really get under the opponents skin & in their heads, nice to see the Habs have their own "Comic Relief" in the lineup, once again!!!...:handclap::handclap::handclap:
Just as Chris "Knuckles" Nilan was in his heydays with the Habs, what am I saying he's still with the Habs on TSN 690. Go Habs Go!!!...:handclap::handclap::handclap:

I wonder if he's hurt, because its really odd to see his game drop off so fast?

That deadline's trade becomes our 2nd best one after Benn. The way players look, listen and smile at him, this guy takes more and more place on the room.

He sounds genuinely happy to be in Montreal. When you look at the footage of the 24CH trade deadline episode, the two guys you see smiling non-stop and speak and sound excited to come here are Benn and Ott.

Oddly enough both have been the best players acquired. Martinsen hasn't played enough to make a real judgement and King's head is clearly not in Montreal right now. Benn and Ott on the other hand have come in here and did their job while in the case of Benn surpassing the expectations of many.

I don't have stats but from perception, have the Habs looked better in the faceoff circle lately?

Forget where I heard/read it but apparently Ott has worked with at least a few guys on faceoffs. If true, seems to be helping.
