He had 30 points last season, playing on a better team, and better line mates,

You expect him to improve by 20 points playing on a last place team?

You delusional

Dach went from playing with world class players in Chicago, and was garbage.

Looked MUCH better and played much better with Montreal's plugs..

Don't be so surprised if Newhook gets a lot more points with Habs than Avs.............

Newhook needs to find a team that better fits his style and he'll break out. I think he has a long career as a top 6 tweener.

He'll mainly be a good second line winger but has enough offensive touch to be a first line winger if there are injuries. He'll fill in fine at C for a game or two if someone gets hurt. But shouldn't be there long term.

Montreal should give him 3.5 millions for 8 years. It sounds wild but he's already worth that and as the cap rises having a solid top 6 winger locked up through his entire prime for cheap is very worth it.
Where Newhook play mostly right wing?

I’m surprised. Newhook is cheap and has a little bit of middle six upside at W. Thought that fit us pretty well for next year. Maybe Newhook thought he’d earned a big raise. Or, we’ve got another iron in the fire for an upgrade. Those picks will never be more valuable.
This aged well

The same pundits said Nail Yakupov was the next Ovechkin.
No it was Oilers fans

Those of us Avalanche fans who are dissatisfied with the way the team handles prospects could be served by Newhook working out well for the Habs and making the Avalanche rethinking development AND got a return trade for him anyway.

What's wrong with the way the Avs are handling prospects?

Seems like they give the Top Ten picks a good shott and ice time, otherwise Bednar doesn't try to work guys into the line up and give them OJT instead favoring putting fringe AHLers into the lineup. They've had a better track record with college UDFAs (Kerfoot, Logan O'Connor, Ben Meyers) than double digit and up picks (Rantanen Really).

Then again, they might just be bad judges of amateur talent.
