Sharks have 4 1st rounders over the next 2 drafts and 3 2nds...there's still tons of time to draft some defensemen. Still very early in the rebuild to think about position

If we get 11th OA from PIT there's a realistic scenario out there SJ walks out of the 2024 draft with 2 of the top defensemen in this years draft.

6'3 (or 4) mobile RHD in AHL scoring at .67 pts per game would have more value than a big winger who is having a great D+1 season in the OHL. But value around the league or in a vacuum doesn't really matter if both teams like their own guy.

The irony there is Shakir Mukhamadulin was actually rated higher in Craig Button's most recent prospect list than Mailloux. Cutter Gauthier, Alexander Nikishin lead Craig Button’s top 50 NHL-affiliated prospects list | TSN

Then there's recent pick Luca Cagnoni who just posted the best season by a D-man in the WHL this century. There's also Jack Thompson who was considered by many to be Tampa Bay's top defensive prospect. Jake Furlong, who went from being an afterthought to earning a spot on the Canadian WJC team.

Not meant as a pissing contest, but more as it takes all of 5 seconds to do a little research before making dumb statements.

indeed so as the Habs , 4 first in the next 2 draft.

The logic behind this is SJ draft high in 2024 and get a forward like Demidov, Lindstrom or even better Celebrini.
The Habs around #7 have great D available (best BPA) like Parekh, Buium or Dickinson that have the potential to be better then Mailloux.

Mukhamadullin is on track as a 6’4” two-way top-4 D and there is a likely world where the Sharks walk out of the 2024 draft with like, Levshunov and Buium.

True top pairing RHD are rare. Top-4 RHD who are great defensively are rare. Bottom pairing offensive RHD who can play PP1 but can’t defend worth a lick are a dime a dozen. Guess which one of those I think Mailloux is going to turn into.

Mailloux seems apologetic and I’m not going to condemn him as a horrible person forever, but downplaying the severity of the crime is unacceptable.

SJ should be either #1 or #2 , so the obvious is Celebrini or Demidov.
If they drop down to #3 or #4 then yes they could draft a D.

SJ have a lot more forward in the pipeline then D

If it's me and the Sharks fell to #2 I'm taking Artyom Levshunov not Demidov.

RHD are at a premium along with centres. RHD with size are even more rare.

Habs say no. Sharks need everything, so there's no point in them switching from one prospect to another.

Also huge LOL at the poster that said Montreal would need to add Fowler.

MTL is in need of decent forward prospect and SJ Defenseman,

MTL : Logan Mailloux
for
SJ : Quentin Musty

Both players have great potential, pretty sure none of them are bust.

What do you guys think ?

It's an easier no from Montreal.

But these types of deals would NEVER happen. Teams don't draft players they love, watch them have good seasons, and then trade them for a player of a similar nature.

Musty is a beauty. Mailloux is too. I like both players. Fair value. But, personally, I'd rather pair Mailloux with the Jets pick and aim even higher than Musty.

Musty honestly might have more high end talent than Smith. I wouldn't trade him for Reinbacher either.
