I didn't notice a better player in this thread lol. There is a reason that Lehkonen makes less and it isn't because he's a better player.

I mean this thread was started by (what appears to be) a Habs fan. So if you don't want/need Gus, we'll just keep him. We would much rather get any kind of pick in return. Not someone to throw on the 4th line, or the press box, or the taxi squad.

I don't think you understand value. There is 600k between the 2 players. Neither are exciting players or particularly good hockey players. One makes 2.4 million to play defensivelyish on a 4th line/sit in the press box. The other makes 3 million to be a 3rd pairing PP specialist/sit in the press box. Both contracts are up at the end of the year. A Habs fans offered this deal because they feel that the Habs need a LHD. Lehkonen is there because the salaries line up.

The Flyers wouldn't add or probably even consider the deal. Adding Lehkonen does nothing for us. It barely saves any cap space (not enough to do anything). If the Flyers wanted to trade Gus, we'd just take a pick in return. If the team couldn't fit 3 million to their cap, Flyers can always eat salary and take a higher pick.
