Players are so cheap this year, I'm loving it. Updated team...

2b: Dee Gordon
CF: Trout
LF: Finley
C: Torre
RF: Buhner
SS: CAP
1B: Bellinger
3B: Donaldson

Got really lucky on an after game reward I pulled Degrom and packed Bryant from a free pack. Kept Degrom and sold Bryant. Sold Mookie and Verlander. Trout is so much better than Mookie. He's a steal at below 200k imo

With as many 99 OF there are live series Trout is going to be alot cheaper this year. Though personally I don't like him, I can't seem to hit well with in in previous years.

For those talking about impact of a high powered hitter being reduced...atleast when it comes to an offline user controlled player. I created a RTTS catcher for the first time ever. I also chose pure power as my archetype. I instantly noticed an increase and ease at which I hit balls deep compared to the mr.utility/contact specialist that I'm using with my RTTS RFer. I never use the power button, I only use 'X' majority of the time. Now..I've only played a few games in AA ball, but I've already hit a dinger and many balls to the wall. We'll see how things progress as the pitchers improve.

Franchise mode looks exactly the same, plus the off-season they made is the exact same garbage that it was in MLB18. Gonna skip on this year :thumbu: maybe they will choose to not pull an EA next year. Reminds me of NHL Legacy and NHL15 $59 to $79 roster update woohoo

I’ve got to say, as a diehard fan of the franchise since it started on PS2, who has been very happy with the year to year changes, this year might make me stop playing. I’ve been playing conquest, and the Yankees are flat out dominating me. I even caved and started playing on rookie for the lowest reward and I’m still losing. I guess the pitch correct, with it dead down the center, and hit a weak infield fly. Meanwhile I’ve lost the last 2 games off of home runs where it was a breaking ball out of the zone low.

The home run hitting is the biggest thing that needs to be fixed. The CPU can still hit home runs all day, but I can’t even hit home runs with my all power franchise mode team that hit over 350 home runs in MLB 18. This warning track power is BS. You basically have to build a team with sub 50 power so they don’t have enough power to hit long fly balls.

That's just not true at all. It must be the way you are hitting because there are plenty of people who are getting good results hitting. ( I have seen the same complaints you are giving as well) Are you using the pci, directional ect...?

I mean, it just is true. It might not be for you I guess, but I can’t hit home runs, and it’s not a small sample size. My friend who plays is having the same issue as well. I’m literally doing the exact same thing I do every year. I’ve probably played 100 games so far. Other than my recent slide against the Yankees in conquest, I’ve had no problem scoring, but it’s all small ball. I’ve probably got less than 10 total homeruns across all game modes.

You're not the only one. I've seen this on the official forums too. The offline hitting is a wreck. Contact hitters are the only way to go. Power hitters are useless offline.

I use directional, and have gone from All-Star down to beginner, and even maxed the sliders
Get rid of directional asap imo. Use zone hitting. it will be tough at first but trust me when i say, its much more rewarding once you get the hang of it. Directional doesn't let you get good wood on the ball in certain zones of the plate. I'm betting thats the reason you arent hitting hrs.

This is the first year I've used dynamic difficulty. In years past (while using directional) I've used Rookie/Vet in AA/AAA, and a mix of Vet/Allstar once i got to the bigs. While taking that approach, I've always maintained a good consistent ~280-300avg 30-40hr in the mlb.

Last years game is completely different . This year the dev's specifically said that pci placement along with timing is going to be very important and it is. Its changed a lot.

Finally reached level 75 and was struggling on who to take vs Kershaw or Ichiro. I eventually pulled the trigger on Ichiro and am not regretting it one bit. Dude is a stud. Gonna take Gwynn once I get there as well to have an absolute beast defensive outfield

Took Ichiro as well, was really tempted by 99 Kershaw but I love Ichiro as a player and this might be the last chance we have of him.

Also my high ranked pitchers never get in games anyway. Think I'm like 16-2 with Trevor Bauer at 83 (he's going diamond this year), and 0-0 with 89 Nolan Ryan because Nolan friggin Ryan never plays. Moved him around in my order and nothing. Never gets in. So I was like to hell with it, I'm going full Ichiro on this pick, at least he will play.

People complaining about HRs make me laugh. Last year the complaint was too many HRs it's the only way to score. They fixed it, and now power swing isn't going to work if you don't PCI the dot on the ball. But HRs happen if you time it all right.

I feel like they balanced it damn near perfect, finally contact hitters are good to have. Last year to hell with Ichiro, that 35 and under power would have made him useless. Now he plays like 2001 Ichiro.

ya I don't quite understand the HR complaints. I'm hitting hrs just fine when I get good wood on the ball. Loving that contact hitters are a thing now. If only I can sacrifice bunt with my pitcher without getting into a double play haha

Had to restart my RTTS pitcher because of a save issue.

This one I got called up straight from AA to the majors, which was cool.

Anyone also having an issue with fielding (RTTS) in the outfield? As far as i know they got rid of that locked fielding cam toggle (right stick down), aswell as introducing a stutter if you dont react quick enough. Thats a minor nitpick of mine. A more major one is that the ai is literally confused when youre running around/taking a bad route/or over-run the spot where the fly ball will land. Difficult to explain, but ive made some fielding attempts where im literally right at the spot where the ball is falling, and the player doesnt even begin his catch motion. He just keeps running. Weird.

Edit: just happenned again. This time it was a routine fly ball 5 feet to my left. I go turn that way and walk over. When i get to the landing spot the player continues to just stand there and look left. Had to run around a bit to get the player into a catching motion.

No, now it’s broken the other way. Online is fine, but they’ve butchered offline. I’ve made WS in ranked seasons several times so I know what I’m doing in this game, it just doesn’t come close to replicating actual baseball offline. I wish there was a way to check stats like this, but I guarantee I’m hitting under .200 on balls I’ve “squared up” offline. They are almost always line drives right at an outfielder. There’s nothing more I can do. Perfect PCI, perfect timing and I very rarely even get a hit out of it, much less a homer. Contact hitters are the only guys worth using against the computer. It’s completely broken and a problem that needs to be addressed. There’s a balance to be struck between insane power 2018 and 0 power 2019. I like playing conquest but have stopped because they’ve made offline totally unplayable. It sucks. In terms of gameplay this is the worst Show to date.

That's because rng is involved. If SDS rewarded us for every squared up/perfectly timed swing, the game would be a hit fest and not "realistic".

Ya, pitching is still fine, but the hitting... I went 19 innings into a 1-1 conquest game last week. In the 16th, I had based loaded, none away (double, hbp, walk). Guess fastball up. It is. Good timing... weak infield fly. Guess cutter inside. It is. Good timing... weak infield fly. Guess fastball low. It’s high, but got the pci indicator over it. Good timing. Weak fly to short right field. All three were great pitches to hit, and I can’t even get the ball past the infielders because the contact was so bad. I’m not expecting to hit a home run every time, but not even being able to hit a sac fly in 2 tries when you’ve even guessed the pitch correctly? Come on

At that point I tried to finish the game, and finally ended up giving up a hr over the green monster, off of a curveball out of the zone low. I shut the game off then and haven’t picked it up since. I probably won’t again either unless there’s talk that they’ve fixed the game.
