OHL Playoffs start March 24th.
Most interesting matchup for first round looks to be Windsor v Kitchener. Imagine that will be a battle.
Marner and London are up against Owen Sound.

Would you guys prefer he has a long run with the knights or an early elimination so he can play with the Marlies?

he's not eligible this year or next year to play with the marlies.

A player that is under the age of 20 can join and play for their respective drafted AHL team after their CHL team is done for the season.

Recent example: Stuart Percy.

Prefer him to win it all memorial cup baby.
He got injured last year and he was tearing it up. This year to make up for last year.

So long as he is signed to an entry level deal prior to the AHL playoffs. I believe that Marner is already signed so he could indeed play for the Marlies.

I honestly don't see any of our players in junior jumping up to the Marlies for the playoffs this year. When you look at that Marlies roster once all the call-ups are returned, there are going to be some good players sitting in the press box. Maybe they call them up to get some practice time and a chance to soak up the experience, but would be surprised if any got ice time.

A long and successful playoff run by Marner personally and for the team success will go a long to prove to Leafs management that Marner has accomplished everything he can at the OHL level.

Vice versa a quick exit by London or a struggle by Marner will leave an unfinished mark on his resume, suggesting he still has something to obtain by more junior play.

True, but him leading in points + exit in first two rounds isn't his fault then.

It could be said he wasn't a team leader because he couldn't get the guys to leave it all on the ice or he was selfish and only worried about his stats.
I'm not saying either are or would be true just playing devils advocate.

It depends on how things play out - if amarner plays well yet his team's defence and goalie drop the ball that doesn't mean he has anything left to do in Junior.

Championships are always a team result.

Assuming the Knights are eliminated from the OHL playoffs when looking at the Marlies roster who would Marner possibly replace in their lineup if the Leafs wanted to call him up to play for them.

He probably wouldn't play to be honest, especially if he joins them while they are in the playoffs all ready. Just practice with the team and hang out with his future teammates is more likely.

If Marner co-captains his Knights to the Memorial Cup he will put an (exclamation point) ! on his junior career.

What would he need to prove individually or team success at that point?

And the rest of your post......

Perhaps she was referring to that moreso than what you've chosen to focus on here.

What would people like to see more:

A) Marner being a primary piece of a Memorial Cup winner

B) Marner being a depth piece of a Calder Cup winner

It would be cool to see Marner win a Memorial Cup, although I think Marner being able to play in the AHL (even for ~10 games) may help his transition to the NHL next season. It would at least give him an idea of the physicality and speed of pro hockey.

He's Mitch freakin' Marner, there's no way he'd be sitting in the press box. He is easily as good or better than most of the players on that team.

He wouldn't be on the top line, killing penalties, or playing center, but he could easily slot in on the 2nd/3rd line and 2nd PP unit.

Remember, Nylander was one of the best players in the AHL when he was Marner's age, there's no reason not to think Mitch wouldn't acquit himself equally well. Top OHL players jump straight to NHL teams all the time and do well, I think it's crazy to think that Marner, who had two of the best 17-yo and 18-yo OHL seasons of all time, couldn't play in the AHL, stacked team or not.

People are frankly talking about him like he's a peewee player or something. He's played against tough competition before at training camp and the world juniors, and while the AHL is a big notch above junior, the OHL is not some kind of joke league and he's clearly too good for that level. His hands and vision right now are easily top 20 in the *world*, even if he needs time to adjust in other areas he brings things to the table that nobody else on the Marlies does besides maybe Nylander.
