For some reason, whenever I'm on Youtube I get on this kick of looking up old (late 90s) WWE/WCW stuff and Mean Gene is always present. If it weren't for JR, I would have said Gene was the voice of the WWE.

RIP to a WWE Legend.

Kick right to the nuts. Mean by God Gene was a part of us growing up and he was the best at what he did. I hope Gorilla Monsoon, Bobby Heenan and now Mean Gene are having a great time again. RIP.

Shame they don't have the actual match(Hogan and Mean Gene vs George the Animal Steele and Mr Fugi) for this build up anymore, but here is a training video

Another funny vid of Gene losing it with Dr D David Schultz

I'll always remember him mostly from his AWA days. He had such a natural back-and-forth rapport with the heels: Bobby Heenan, Jerry Blackwell, but especially Jesse Ventura. His interviews with Jesse were works of art.

He had a hockey connection as well. His son Todd was on the U.S. Olympic team and played 4 games for the New York Islanders.

RIP Mean Gene. Such a lovable character and by all accounts a great guy.

He was funny as hell on Legends House in recent years.

The absolute best to ever do what he did. The interview fembots that are in wrestling now just makes me sad. Gene was a part of those great promo segments and he could interact with the performers. Today, it's a sheepish woman asking one question and she gets bulldozed by a promo. I don't want a Mean Gene clone doing interviews but we need a charismatic backstage worker to get more from those segments.

I've heard he was a big time alcoholic. So much that burned through two, possibly three kidneys.

Yet he was always able to seemingly hold it together. RIP to a legend
