Big deal. I’m at a spot where I can’t be applauding personal accomplishments at this point. Also, one shot on net in the last 2 games.

If he gets 38 points to close out the season and hit this milestone and then he “shanks his drive” in the playoffs, I don’t think many will be talking about his wonderful milestone achievement.

Yes he hasn’t been an issue in the playoffs, again on a personal level. But I reiterate (to what the post was about) , I don’t give a fiddlers f*** about personal accomplishments at this point in any of the generational players.

Sadly, McDavid is entirely evaluated by the failure to win a Stanley Cup.
Not his fault.
He has been surrounded by idiots.
HIs point totals are absolutely meaningless.
This spring will be a horror.
Last nights game defined how awful this team actually is.
A disgrace to Oiler fans.

This is only the second game this month where the Oilers failed to pick up at least one point, and had good games vs BOS and COL lately. Yet one bad game and that's it?

Kind of disagree. The year before last he was unbelievable but last year he really wasn’t great outside of the pp. His raw numbers look unbelievable but that was riding a 40 something percent pp. 5 on 5 he struggled last year in the playoffs.

The powerplay counts though. He had 20 points in 12 games.

The way things are going with other 2 (McKinnon and Kucherov), I think McDavid is going to need around 3 points a game to catch them. 2 might not do it. And if one of the other 2 really get hot, they might score 50 goals AND 100 assists. That would really put a bit of a damper on McDavid getting 100 apples.

Maybe this kind of award is a bad thing. Just another thing distracting on what really matters

This 50 goal thing for Hyman was likely a distraction too

I saw Eichel just hit 500 points. It’s insane to me McDavid is inching to 1000 points.

I know Eichel’s missed a lot of time from injury, but I remember draft day they were saying how incredible blah blah Eichel was and that he wasn’t so far off McDavid(probably just TSN being overdramatic)

"Inching" isn't the word you want there. "Rocketing" is more appropriate. Unreal how quickly he's gotten this close.

Mackinnon would need 6 goals and 22 assists in 11 games (2.54 ppg)

Kucherov 9 goals and 18 assists in 11 games (2.45 ppg)

Those are some lofty numbers. Anything’s possible of course. They are both having incredible years for sure.

But at the same time it’s just as likely McDavid goes on some sort of insane run and scores 40 goals and puts up 150 points again

14 goals and 19 assists in 13 games (2.54ppg)

Yes, lofty indeed. But one of those guys just had 2 four point nights back to back, so they are in another stratosphere this year. Not to diminish McDavid's accomplishments of course, but wow, we're seeing some high level offence this year.

Well IMO this season likely will be the first season that McDavid isn't winning the Art Ross since the '19-20 season when he returned from his knee injury. I don't think that it's a secret that players like McDavid are driven in terms of the legacy that they leave behind when it's all said and done and trying to be the best that they possibly can be. I also don't believe that he has been at 100% basically for the whole season. Watching others taking home all of the hardware would be hard for him unless we win it all this season. Here's where the scoring race sits entering tonight's games:

Nikita Kucherov 67gp. (14 Games Remaining, Tampa has played 68gp.) 41-77-118 1.76ppg.
Nathan MacKinnon 69gp. (13 Games Remaining) 42-75-117 1.70ppg.
Connor McDavid 64gp. (16 Games Remaining, Edm. has played 66gp.) 26-82-108 1.69ppg.

Projected Points at Season's End Based on Their Current Pace:
Kucherov 143 points
MacKinnon 139 points
McDavid 135 points

To beat Kucherov's current pace, McDavid would need 36 points in his last 16 games or a 2.25 points/game average. If he was at the top of his game and healthy I would see that as very doable. I don't think it happens unless our PP gets white hot and we actually start getting PP chances. Hopefully I am wrong.
Updated Stats
Kucherov 71gp. 42-82-124 (1.75ppg) 10 games remaining, Since 3/21 (4gp. 1-5-6)
MacKinnon 73gp. 45-78-123 (1.68ppg) 9 games remaining, Since 3/21 (4gp. 3-3-6)
McDavid 69gp. 27-95-122 (1.77ppg) 11 games remaining, Since 3/21 (5gp. 1-13-14)

Projected Points at Season's End Based on Their Current Pace:
Kucherov 142 points
McDavid 141 points
MacKinnon 138 points

Just for fun, lets go off of what each of them have been playing at since Jan 1st.

Projected finish:
McDavid - 2.0 ppg - 144 points
Kucherov - 1.85 ppg - 143 points
MacKinnon - 1.81 ppg - 139 points

It gets even more interesting if you go from Feb 1st, since McDavid's pace picks up to 2.12, with Kuch at 1.77 and Mack at 1.63.

It's gonna come right down to the wire, but I think it's going to turn into a two-horse race between Kuch and McDavid.

He is playing a better 200 foot game this season then any other season.

McDavid seems to like to focus on certain elements each season.

Doesn’t score much? 64 goals
100 assists in a season? Coming soon…

I hope next year he decides to win the Selke…lol

Seriously though, the kid can do anything.

I hope that next year he returns to his goalscoring from last season and keeps up his playmaking. Next season could be his best ever if he's healthy and looks to score again. 160-170 points maybe.

He has a good shot at taking over tomorrow if he decides to feast on the Ducks.

2 more match-ups against MacKinnon and the Avs as well. If the Oilers can keep Mack in check to 1 point or less and Connor can get multiple points in those games it'll help big time. Hoping for a 4 point or better game against the Ducks tomorrow.
