Imo, he might be just not feeling 100% healthy, I can recall reading that his shoulder still hurts from time to time. Btw, he is on the injured reserve now, should be back soon.

Consider he already plays on the NHL size rink (Vladivostok 1 of 3 teams in the KHL to use small ice) and he was already among NHL preseason scoring leaders 4 years ago. In the right system he will thrive.
