Strome over empty spaceWhat blunders at the draft have I made?
Jake Sanderson isn't in the NHL.Jake Sanderson at #23 in the 2020 draft. Your comment on his physicality was criminally stupid.
Edit: You should have known better on that ranking.
That's too bad...
Going the patient and conservative route will pay off in the long run but that line with him Kane and Hagel was really fun to watch.
Putting stock in Mustos prospect opinions is like listening to Joe Rogan to find out what's up with Covid.Considering Musto's prior draft history, I wouldn't be surprised if Mercer doesn't amount to much in the future.

It seems like I am in the minority here, but I don't think he did as well as many believe. I agree with sending him down. I wouldn't be surpised if he gets called up in a couple weeks and takes a huge step forward.
Why do you think that?
I thought he was pretty good, although yeah away from the puck not too impactful yet.
But the speed - both physical and mental processing - was so noticable. He created a lot of good things, bunch of dangerous action too.
Those two games gave me assurance his strengths are very likely to translate which is awesome.
Agreed on his strengths. Speed and shot were good. He made some passes that surprised me, too. With the puck, he was great all things considered.
But you mentioned it. His play away from the puck. And I don't mean defensively. But whenever we possessed the puck in transition or had a cycle going in the O-zone, he seemed lke he was always skating away from the puck or had his back turned to the play. Like he didnt want anyone to pass to him. He frequently changed in the middle of developing plays (he could have had a goal on one of Hagel's rushes if he would have stayed).
To me that shows he doesn't have the confidence yet and IDK how I feel about throwing someone like that straight into it. I might be coming off as overcritical, but all I'm saying is that I think it was the right move to send him down. I think they should bring him back up sooner than later though. I like his game.
Reichel skates great, but I think he's too perimeter oriented right now.. Going back to the Rock and having more success sounds good.
Hawks are doing it since Reichel is limited to 9 games in the NHL or his contract status changesSending down Reichel who looked ready is stupid
There is no reason this team with its thin talent should be sending kid back to AHL
He has nothing to learn from playing in AHL going forward and has adjusted to NA game just fine thru his stint in AHL and should be gaining experience with Hawks the rest of season
Totally agree with with this. And they do collapse on PK rather than pressure PP team. For life of me, can't see where Carpenter is some kind of PK specialist. For some reason the Hawks have played way too much on the perimeter the last few years and it's one of the most frustrating parts of watching a game. I'm not sure whether that's because of how they're being coached or not but it annoys the hell out of me.
The perimeter play and super passive/collapsing PK drive me crazy.

He looks frail to me.... like 160 lbs frail.Reichel skates great, but I think he's too perimeter oriented right now.. Going back to the Rock and having more success sounds good.
