Jake Sanderson at #23 in the 2020 draft. Your comment on his physicality was criminally stupid.

Edit: You should have known better on that ranking.
Jake Sanderson isn't in the NHL.

Nothing wrong with that ranking.

Sending down Reichel who looked ready is stupid

There is no reason this team with its thin talent should be sending kid back to AHL

He has nothing to learn from playing in AHL going forward and has adjusted to NA game just fine thru his stint in AHL and should be gaining experience with Hawks the rest of season

It seems like I am in the minority here, but I don't think he did as well as many believe. I agree with sending him down. I wouldn't be surpised if he gets called up in a couple weeks and takes a huge step forward.

Reichel stood out bc he attacks wide with speed; aside from Hagel, I'm unsure who else can do that. It appears Chicago wants him to work on some things and they used a 2 game NHL experience to reinforce that. I've got no issues with it.

Why do you think that?

I thought he was pretty good, although yeah away from the puck not too impactful yet.

But the speed - both physical and mental processing - was so noticable. He created a lot of good things, bunch of dangerous action too.

Those two games gave me assurance his strengths are very likely to translate which is awesome.

Too bad he's been sent down again, him and the Kraken's Philipp Grubauer are from the same hometown and are the first and only guys from there who made it to the NHL. Would have been nice to see them both on the ice together, and would also have been a nice opportunity for him to get his first goal ;)

Agreed on his strengths. Speed and shot were good. He made some passes that surprised me, too. With the puck, he was great all things considered.

But you mentioned it. His play away from the puck. And I don't mean defensively. But whenever we possessed the puck in transition or had a cycle going in the O-zone, he seemed lke he was always skating away from the puck or had his back turned to the play. Like he didnt want anyone to pass to him. He frequently changed in the middle of developing plays (he could have had a goal on one of Hagel's rushes if he would have stayed).

To me that shows he doesn't have the confidence yet and IDK how I feel about throwing someone like that straight into it. I might be coming off as overcritical, but all I'm saying is that I think it was the right move to send him down. I think they should bring him back up sooner than later though. I like his game.

Ok that's fair. Although I think that can be ironed out with just simply more games are rep.

But nothing wrong with taking it easy with him either. We are in no rush anywhere build that confidence.

I didn’t think he was as great as some are saying, I think most here have forgotten what NHL ready prospects look like, they come in and make a big statement right off the bat, we have forgotten that actually means point production from a 1st round prospect and not just a flash or two here and there, people think that Nylander had talent lol, he was garbage but people here throught otherwise, just shows how clueless we have become watching a garbage team that anything that looks meh average we think has “talent” lol and tools and toolboxes and all that kinda talk comes out

Reichel skates great, but I think he's too perimeter oriented right now.. Going back to the Rock and having more success sounds good.

For some reason the Hawks have played way too much on the perimeter the last few years and it's one of the most frustrating parts of watching a game. I'm not sure whether that's because of how they're being coached or not but it annoys the hell out of me.

The perimeter play and super passive/collapsing PK drive me crazy.

Hawks are doing it since Reichel is limited to 9 games in the NHL or his contract status changes

Totally agree with with this. And they do collapse on PK rather than pressure PP team. For life of me, can't see where Carpenter is some kind of PK specialist.

The collapsing PK is an awful strategy it just causes more traffic for the goaltender to see through and more potential inadvertent deflections that could make what would normally be an "easy" save that much more difficult.
