Proposal: Leon Draisaitl For Ryan Ellis

The difference today is that we aren't in nearly as desperate of a position as we were then. The other difference is that we can't sign a replacement for Draisaitl in two days like we could with Hall.

Lucic is a replacement for Hall?

More like a downgrade of epic proportions...

Thanks for the breaking news.

Yes, Lucic is our replacement 1st line LW. We all know that Hall is a better player. We also know that Lucic & Larsson > Hall for our team because of the needs we had. Still doesn't make the trade fair IMO, but don't get me started again.

Downgrade of epic proportions? That's a big hyperbolic, no?

Lucic had 10 less points than Hall last season and also brings the other intangibles to the table, physicality, creating space for linemates, McDavid protection. Hall is certainly a better offensive player but he's not an "epic" upgrade on Lucic especially considering the Oilers needs.

Anyway, Draisaitl for Ellis isn't happening because the Oilers would never offer that and the Preds have no reason to trade Ellis.

watching my fellow Oilers fans justify the Hall trade sickens me

Oh settle down. Nobody is saying that Hall for Larsson was fair value, just that Lucic+Larsson fits the Oilers needs better. Feel better?

Draisaitl for Ellis for make my blood boil. They don't call him the German Gretzky for nothing.

And Oilers would lose a D in the expansion draft for sure

Watching my fellow Oiler fans whine and moan about something that is done sickens me. Seeing my fellow Oiler fans suggest that we should have kept Hall and made no changes to our blueline, thus still having the worst blueline in the league is what really baffles me. Yes we lost the better player, but do you not want to see any team improvement?

Well it definitely would have to be overpayment for NSH to move Ellis. We don't have anyone to replace Ellis, so unless you want another Hall for Larsson, I don't think there's a deal to be made.

HAll for Larsson:

Larsson #1 Def d in the game last 2 years.
1st comp
top 10 HSCA D
#5 25.02 SA/60
#1 1.52 GA/60
#6 4.47 PKGA/60
which cost us

Hall top 15 GF forward in the game.
1st comp
#79 .80 EVG/60
#2 1.78 EVA/60
#5 2.57 EVP/60

Draisatl for Ellis

Draisatl:
1st comp
#84 .81 EVg/60
#24 1.39 EVA/60
#20 2.20 EVP/60

Ellis
2nd comp
Top 20 HSCA D area that shots go in 8.5% to 20% of the time
#10 25.25 SA/60
#66 2.05 EVGA/60 results affected by avg HSCA save% goalie
#1 30.33 PKSA/60
#14 4.71 PKGA/60

Ellis for Draistl seems close.
But cup teams have 3+ top 60 HSCA D

Both teams have 3 top 60 HSCA D
Josi 1st comp
Ellis 2nd comp
Ekholm 2nd comp

Larsson 1st comp
Klefbom 1st comp
Davidson 2nd comp

No way Chia moves Drai. He's a big strong centre.... exactly the type of player Chia likes. RNH is likely to go if any and you can get the just of this from Lucic's interview. He talked boldly of Drai, mentioned 1 2 punch and then we still have RNH too...

Those would be the people who think that Dmen help drive offence.

when you have hit the 30th even production Dman 270 forwards have out scored him.

270 forwards and 30 Dmen in the top 300 scorers.
who do you think drives offence.
Do really think it is better to have it in a dman's hands.
that is just creating less successful GF pocession

You get points when puck goes in the net.
Average results by Dmen/forward.
Dman Dman EVg/60 .17
DMAn EVA1/60 .25
Dman EVA2/60 .31
Forward EVA2/60 .41
Forward EVA1/60 .52
Forward EVG/60

the further the puck is from Dman pocession
the better the GF rate for a team.

Get it in the hands of forwards ASAP.
PERIOD!

Now the HSCA is a physical area that can be almost completely defended by Dman.
so all the Above league average success shots are largely defended by Dmen.
Keep shot count down
keep HSCA shot count down.
Provide clear path viewing for Golaie.

Larsson when it comes to defending at even and PK the is the best in the game the last 2 years.
top 10 HSCA D
#5 25.02 SA/60
#1 1.52 GA/60
#6 4.47 PKGA/60
which cost us

Hall
#79 .80 EVG/60
#2 1.78 EVA/60
#5 2.57 EVP/60

kind of crazy looking at GA .

Rhett Warener one of the best Playoff HSCA anchor D.
96 Cup final FLD
98 cup Final BUF
04 cup Final Calgary
said it best.
It takes 3 GF to out score 2GA
it takes 4 GF to outscore 3 GA
it takes 5 GF to outscore 4 GA
4 and 5 goals aint happening.

He is saying you need to be a 2GA or less team to be cup Competitive.
