The LA series wasn't about a lucky bounce. Coaching decisions matter. If you want to believe Q is above all criticism, go ahead, but that doesn't preclude objective fans from seeing both the good and the bad.

As an aside, I think most Hawk fans, myself included, have enjoyed the past few years immensely.

That may or may not be true. But a legitimate critique of the coach is not something from which this can be inferred.

No one is stating he is perfect. Q pisses me off all the time, but I still love him as the Hawks coach. That's pretty objective if you ask me.

And in a series that closely contested everything matters, including coaching.

I think most are able to balance criticism and enjoyment of the squad. Just doing one or the other really doesn't make for a rewarding fan experience after all.

I'll ask this again, who is a better coach and why are they a better coach? Maybe it will put it in perspective that fans of every team in pretty much all of sports think their coach sucks, maybe that means there just aren't any that are perfect or view the game the same way as everyone else. Every single player could have played better in that series, did they all come back perfect this year?

His line combos and use of old veterans cost us the cup last year. It was plain as day. Your conclusion that critiquing Q implies a spoiled fan base is a real head-scratcher.

Much of the criticism last year about lines on this board centered around Handzus playing over Pirri. I agreed that Pirri looked better. But as of now, Pirri is being healthy scratched on the worst offensive team in the league (hopefully he gets a chance soon). The only thing "plain as day" about the center situation last year was that the Hawks didn't have 4 NHL centers on the roster.

I'm happy with Q but I can see a passing of the torch within a few years, maybe even sooner.
You never know, maybe Dineen will rise to the occasion ..

Looks ok

Scored his 1st goal as Isle tonight (it was goal #6 for Isles tonight)

Boychuk acquisition has overshadowed his as Boychuk is playing amazing hockey

NHL Center Ice has a free preview right now. I was able to catch a majority of the Isles/Rangers game last night. Leddy looked good and I hope he keeps it up. The Islanders will be my eastern conference team I will be rooting for this year. Not just for Leddy. I just think they are a good story and it looks like they have righted the ship. Plus they have Tavares who is an easy guy to root for.

Isles story is lot like the Blackhawks.

It has been frequently referenced on the NYI board that the blue print for success for them is the Blackhawks, which are easy to see in many ways. Just hope early success isn't a mirage!

Leddy has been big so far. Very good skater helping in breakouts and nice offensive touch. Been above average in his own end - did get burned by Sharks for a goal - but overall everyone here is very happy. Leddy paired with Boychuk has been a total win.

Was taking a peek over here to see how Pokka was doing. Had high hopes for him as many others here did too. Nilsson will be a work in progress but has obvious ability - goaltenders are hard to forecast for sure.

Glad he's working out so far. I think we all wish Nick and the Isles success!

Friedman had some stuff about Bowman, Leddy, and TT in his latest 30 Thoughts column. But most relevant to this thread is this one:

14. Some execs were surprised at the Leddy deal from the Chicago perspective, because the Blackhawks asked for draft picks from other teams, not players. Bowman said he wanted assets that wouldn’t hurt his cap situation right now, but Pokka (acquired in the trade) makes sense because he is a talented defender and that is where the Blackhawks will have a need. (It’s believed Calgary, Colorado, San Jose and Winnipeg were among those interested in Leddy.)

Off the top of my head, I couldn't put together a better cap-compliant deal with any of those suitors than what Stan ended up with.

Maybe this will demonstrate why Q isn't in the same league as Babcock, read the entire story.

Totally different level than what is going on here.

That's no surprise. Quite a few Hawk fans think Leddy is a little confidence away from breaking out. He'll only get better if given the chance to play his game.

Playing well in regular season has never been problem with Nick

Lets see how he does in playoffs as an Isle. Because we all saw how he wilted under pressure when Q called on him to step up in playoffs

I don't know if it's been discussed already. I kept an eye on Brennan back in his Q days but haven't kept up since. Seeing he's having a tough time breaking in to the NHL, do you think he would benefit from playing forward at even strength and be a PP specialist on defence?

Isles fan coming in peace. So far Leddy has been great for the Isles. Smooth and calm with some great offensive instincts.

Not going to lie though, I had Pokka above Pulock on the Isles depth chart. He doesn't have the crazy shot like Pulock, but overall I think he ends up better than Leddy when all is said and done.

Great trade by both teams (and yes I hope we're mirroring you're rebuild).
