We have arguably four forwards better than their best forward, failure is unacceptable. Marner specifically better demonstrate why he's worth 2x Werenski.

If the playoffs happen there are going to be a lot of "upsets" given the time off all the teams have had. The Leafs probably have the same chance to win it as they do to go out in the first round.

Healthy Muzzin will be huge. Is Mikheyev healthy? I like our chances. Leafs in 4.

Columbus has a lot of ingredients that would make them an ideal candidate to upset a more skilled team like Toronto. They did it against Tampa last year and we have similar strengths and weaknesses. They have the wild card goaltending that can get hot, they have the big checking forwards, the fiery Burns-like coach, the balanced, deep, skilled blueline. Only thing that I'm curious about here is if the play-in games resemble a intrasquad match if the skill level of the Leafs will take over.

As much as I think that the layoff should benefit the most skilled teams (i.e. us), it is still a best-of-5 after three months off. This is going to be a crapshoot. Especially as Andersen is not exactly known for starting seasons at the top of his game.

So hockey in July (they're saying). I'll take it GO LEAFS GO!

This isn't the blue jackets team of last year. We can take em. I mean sure anything can happen but I'd be surprised if we lost.

I'm a little worried not going to lie. If we lose this series it will really mess up their mentality. Columbus is basically the Bruins without any offensive talent..

The no fans in attendance I think only plays to our advantage especially vs a team like columbus who has a crazy barn in the playoffs.

If we can go to Costco with 100's of our closest friends (let alone the number that walk through it on any given day) why can't an 18K seat arena host 3K (or pick a number) people in it? At least give some atmosphere. I would think they could easily social distance with that number.

Just a random thought regarding the television broadcast quality assuming the NHL moves forward with the proposed playoff format...

I watched bits of a Bundesliga match last weekend and there was digital background crowd noise added to the broadcast. It was actually much more enjoyable to watch than the previous week where it was so quiet that you could hear the players and coaches.

I hope that Sportsnet figures out a way to do something comparable for the NHL playoff broadcasts.
I'll say this, TSN would definitely find a way to do this, so don't hold your breath on Sportsnet doing it.

Why can't you look at the number of hits thrown to determine how many hits a team throws?
Finishing checks and the total number of hits are not the same. The teams at the top of the standings for hits thrown are usually there from unnecessary hits. Whereas when teams have players who just finish their necessary hits, are not likely to be the leaders as their players are more focused on staying in better position defensively instead of going for a hit that won't gain them possession back.
