The Lightning signed Girardi for the same term and price. Our signing isn't great but at least we avoided Girardi.

Probably had to pay a bit more for the 2 year term. The Leafs needed a guy for the young players to win a spot over, so I'm ok with this. We won't have cap issues for the next two years anyway, so let's see where it goes. If he's a healthy scratch Year 2 or even by the deadline next year then good for us.

Let's not forget he was top pairing on a Stanley cup team last year, so he can log minutes.
