MAPLE LEAFS (17-21-9) at LIGHTNING (26-18-4)
TV: SN, TVA Sports, SUN
Season series: Tampa Bay Lightning forward Vladislav Namestnikov scored the game-winning goal 2:01 into overtime in a 5-4 victory against the Toronto Maple Leafs at Air Canada Centre on Dec. 15. Forward Nikita Kucherov had a goal and an assist for Tampa Bay. Forward James van Riemsdyk had a goal and an assist for Toronto.
Maple Leafs team scope: Toronto lost 5-1 at the Florida Panthers on Tuesday. Goaltender James Reimer, who started his fourth straight game, had his streak of 18 consecutive games allowing three goals or fewer ended. "I thought we had things going good and our penalty kill was going good, and then [Aleksander] Barkov walked right down the middle," coach Mike Babcock said. "We didn't do our job or what we're supposed to do, what we talked about it in the meeting and the next thing you know, I thought they got going." Backup Jonathan Bernier will start Wednesday. The Maple Leafs are 3-6-2 in January. Toronto's first game following the 2016 NHL All-Star Game in Nashville is at the Boston Bruins on Feb. 2.
Lightning team scope: Tampa Bay is home for its final game before the All-Star break. The Lightning have been off since their seven-game winning streak ended with a 5-2 loss at the Florida Panthers on Saturday "Everybody is looking forward to Thursday morning and going on vacation, but there's a very, very important game for us to play first," associate coach Rick Bowness told the team website Tuesday. "Our guys are well aware after our meeting [Tuesday] of the importance of the game and the importance of rebounding from a bad game." Forward Kucherov has 11 points (six goals, five assists) in his past eight games and is Tampa Bay's leading scorer with 41 points (20 goals, 21 assists).

Mike Babcock vs. Jon Cooper
Cooper, when he doesn't have multiple off-ice player contract issues to distract him, is looking more like the man who brought his Bolts into the Stanley Cup final. Babcock, in a back-to-back, will have to keep pumping up his team, whose thoughts could be easily lured to the all-star break.
