He's played 3 healthy games this year. Yes, he scored in all of them but that doesn't mean the Jets are making a mistake. 3 games.

He'll be up soon.

Maurice likes his players big, strong, dumb and with bad hands.

Niku doesn't fit any category.

Maurice is nothing but shit. The Jets could and would be much better or at least promising for the future if he got fired.

The problems the Jets have are defencemen who cannot play with the puck and get it moving from the back end and it's just frustrating to watch. A player like Niku would certainly help there with his speed and puck moving abilities and yet he's being wasted in the AHL. Maurice lives back in the days where all the players had to be 6"2++. At first he gets rid of their smartest defender (Heinola) and now he simply refuses to use his other asset that would almost certainly make the team better. The stubbornness and stupidity of this coach is just something. No wonder he's breaking records of the most lost games in the league.

Had this same thought earlier today.

They have 3 wins and a SO loss in their last 4 games so it seems like a change should happen exactly why?

You're judging a team by a four game sample size. Like seriously? What happened to the rest of the season? Good riddance. :help:

Well they did send down (in your words their smartest defender in Heinola, whatever that means) and have had that success in that 4 game samle.

What exactly is the reasoning for bringing up Niku?

Or are people only stat watching?

Depends how much you believe in Hellebuyck being a Vezina nominee this year.

Having Niku on the back end isn't going to change what Hellebuyck much though.

The Jets are going to live and die by their excellent group of forwards and team defense, much like the Vegas model.

Winning games isn't the same as making the team better and that's the discussion here. For instance the other night they were able to beat the Canucks but the struggle at their own end lasted about the whole 60 minutes. Being unable to get the puck moving was evident throughout the game and it could have ended either way. The last thing any contending team wants is for games to turn into a lottery and hope that their goalkeeper is standing on his head night in night out.

I got the same vibes from the NYR vs CAR game where the Canes just pushed hard and pressured the Rangers to the point where they could barely escape from their own zone (yet still won the game as well). There's room for improvement and there's more than likely room for one Niku.

Sad that Niku still plays in the AHL, 13 points in 11 games so far.
positive note : Moose are on a 5 game win streak and have 7 wins in their last 8 games
