I like Borgman and Polak as a 3rd pairing. Adds a bit of sandpaper to our otherwise soft blueline.

Trap, what are the tweets saying?
(sigh). i miss the old place :(

Sorry Daisy if I don't do it this way, I lose most of the Graphics that enhance the tweet but I'll try to remember if there are no graphics I'll post the old way

After seeing how Gardiner just let the Sen player drive him behind the net, getting two quality chances and sens player banging away while 3 leafs including Komarov and Kadri just playing tag, the sens score.

I would be super worry too about defensive toughness. Polak will take a dumb reckless penalty there but sens player would be on the ice on pain.

there are some tweets i'm just curious in re: to comments etc. :)

Doughty on the Leafs: "I honestly think they’re going to be a contender one of these days. I don’t think they are there yet."

He thinks we are strong with the Force, but we are not a Jedi yet.
(I joke he means in 2 years we should be there. When he signs with the Leafs as a UFA.)

back to the truculence era?
Ah yes but this time around we have a number 1 center, high end skill, hard working depth and puck moving defenseman to go with the truculence. I still think we need 1 or 2 heavier forwards to compliment. The kind of forwards who can play top 9. A Tkachuk, Jenner, JT Miller, something like that.

Should be a challenging game for the buds, and a lot more watchable hopefully. Still having flashbacks from Saturday.

Given these signings, I don't think having two big guys on the 3rd pairing is the right choice. I'd like to try..

Borgman - Rielly (A lot of responsibility to the kid, but he is steady and can clear the crease which is Rielly's weakness)
Gardiner - Zaitsev
Hainsey - Polak

I think that gives three balanced pairings

Maybe but if you get hammered by Polak one shift in front of the net are you going to rush back to the front of the net on the next shift, regardless of whether you know he's there or not? Hopefully he can instill a little bit of fear into the opponent.

I think Borgman-Polak will work much better than Borgman-Carrick. Polak will stay back more which will allow Borgman to get more creative.

Also no need to split up Hainsey-Rielly pairing

Leave Hainsey and Rielly together. If anything put Borgman with Zaitsev and Gards with Polak.

I just don't think he is a regular dman on a SC contender. Not anymore. I am interested to see how it plays out.

He's bigger but not as physical. Borgman plays the old school way. He can play defense and block out the front of the net. Rielly then gets to move the puck and play his game instead of trying to be Borgman. In the Ozone, Rielly is free to go for a skate, while Borgman can hold the line with his size.
