In the woods
Torchek is a monster center for us. 60+ with great 2 way play. Already eclipsed Strome's best year with us offensively, and is a monster on the dot and actually plays defense. We have great C depth going into the playoffs I like our chances alot better.
He makes the faceoff numbers way better too. Remember there was a time when they could not win a faceoff for the life of them?

He gets lot of hate but he's been one of my favorite players this season. The balls on him to push defenders back and challenge them 1 on 1, 1 on 2, 1 on 3. Doesn't make a difference to him. Doesn't work most of the time but I appreciate the effort there in trying to make a play and attack. Chytil tries but isn't as good at doing that, also has his head down too much trying to shift through the middle. The throw it down the boards and lose every race just doesn't work. Especially when you have players like Panarin, Zibanejad, and Kreider who seem to never come away with the puck.
This is worth repeating. Physocally challenging the defense is valuable in and of itself. Even when the play is broken up, which is often, it forces the opposition out of their comfort zone. Causes all kinds of havoc. And when it works, it’s wondrous.

Drury extended the window a long time with the contracts he’s given to our top 3 centers

How awesome is the fact that the kids line is heating up for the playoffs. Cause as we all know, the top lines usually cancel themselves out, and the bottom six score big time playoff goals. We have a decided edge over most teams with our bottom six.

The window is going to be shesty on a value contract at this point.
If he can lock laf and miller up it'll help, but shesty as a sub 8m goalie is the big thing right now.

Well said. Good job by the kids, their game is also literally built for playoff hockey which is great. Remember the Zucc-Brassard-Pouliot line? What a joy to watch that was. Pouliot got a nice contract right after that run too

Drury made another great move along the lines of acquiring Kaner and Tarasenko,... in awarding Chytil a contract, at just the right time. He saw how he blossomed during last year's playoffs. So what better vote of confidence can you give a player, heading into the playoffs, than awarding him a multi-million dollar contract? Honestly this might be the best move Drury has made this season. You can bet Chytil, with last year's playoff performance behind him, and the vote of confidence from the organization, he will be a force to be reckoned with.

The Trocheck signing and cap hit was so crucial because with his game he can easily slide to a 3C position as he slows down in the later years of that deal. Which coincides with the prime of Chytil’s career. The Rangers are really set down the middle for this 5 year window like never really before. Center has been an issue for a long long time for this franchise.
