If the Rangers rebuild, where does that leave Henrik? He'll turn 35 this season, and doesn't likely have the years left to make it through a rebuild.

We should just trade him if we get off to a bad start this season.

To Dallas for Lehtonen, Dickinson, Nichushkin, and a 1st and a 3rd.

Same with Zuccarello to CGY for Andersson and Poerier and Nash to Nash for Arvidsson, one of Fiala/Kamenev/Doughtery and a 1st or a 2nd depending on how much we retain.

And Klein to EDM for Bear. Or Khaira and Slepyshev.

As a Blues fan..I would like this trade. It does mean however, that the Blues would have to make another trade involving a top 9 player because they'd have too many forwards.

Ideally they'd be able to trade Lehtera for a draft pick, maybe a 2nd rounder. He's a very good player, but he only plays center. The Blues could move Steen, Fabbri or Berglund to center, so he's replaceable.

The Blues already have other RH d-men in the system to slot into the 3rd pairing to replace Shattenkirk.

Line 1: Nash-Steen/Fabbri-Tarasenko
Line 2A: Steen/Fabbri-Stastny-Perron
Line 2B: Schwartz-Sobotka-Berglund

Hank to Dallas would make a lot of sense if he was willing to go, although I think them signing Bishop next summer is more likely.

Getting Nash's contract off the books would be great for the Rangers but I can't help but laugh at them if they get stuck in the same loop for another year:

1. Spend assets and trade for defenseman who'll be a UFA soon
2. UFA hits and realize you can't afford to resign defenseman because there's too much money tied up in Girardi & Staal
3. Defenseman leaves in UFA
4. Go back to step 1

Yeah, well...Mike Milbury.

Ottawa seems to be following the Leafs old model and it is really quite amusing actually.

The Leafs old model meant missing the playoffs every year for nearly a decade.

I don't think anyone is following that model except for maybe the Oilers.

The leafs old model from 2004-2012 was going for the 8 seed.

Ottawa's done a better job, but since 2009, ottawa's in the same boat with melnyk.

Rangers won't do a full rebuild. Lundqvist won't be traded.

Ovechkin comes to NYR in his final season and Ovechkin and Lundqvist ride off into the sunset together.
