Not really sure what happened behind the scenes in PIT, but I don't think he was forced out because he was not an NHL player. Heard he wanted more than one year and lost the musical chair game of FA. 3 years in Sweden probably made more sense from a family and quality of life perspective.
Someone on the Pens board mentioned he failed his physical and had trouble getting traction with teams after that. Also read that he didn’t want to be a bottom six defensive specialist on continual one year deals having to move every year.

Larsson - 3rd round

im sure im missing more

Curtis Glencross (2nd & 5th)

Mike Weber (3rd)

Tim Gleason (4th)

Tyler Graovac (5th)

Jakub Jerabek (5th) only had 1 NHL game since leaving Washington and ended up in the KHL after one more season, but we don't complain about that one much given the totality of that trade deadline.

Can't say I had noticed that trend before, but it does seem like GMBM has quite the propensity for trading for players on the last stage of their NHL careers, whether it be older players past their prime giving it one last shot or fringe guys on their last chance.
