So after Winnipeg wins the Lottery (Mathews) and we post pictures of Chevy Smiling ( big grin). Do we storm downtown Winnipeg and close down Portage and Main dressed in White and waving Jets flags?......

It's the day I've been waiting for since January, so nice that I get to hope for the Jets to win something again, rather than cheer against them..... Still mad about that pointless win streak however.

Agree, though as things are turning out I'm not sure whether being 6 or 8 is going to matter that much. I have a feeling that the current and future of the #4-12 picks is going to be pretty fluid. The Jets might well end up with a player (Jost, Chychrun, Brown, Juolevi) that ends up being 4th best or better in the draft. I'm particularly pleased with what I've seen with Jost, and Brown has really made a late run. Two potential top end C's.

I 100% agree with your post. It took me a while to catch up on some of the U18 after my trip and adding to your list of Brown and Jost I was stunned at how good Keller is, he reminds me so much of a young Claude Giroux it isn't funny. Unless TNSE drops the ball we are ending up with a very good hockey player at 6-9. I have fallen in love with PLD but Keller could end up as a higher end NHL player so I go into tonight a bit more relaxed than I was at the end of the season.

Both Jost and Brown are very interesting - high skill on both of them. Brown is obviously a huge kid - Jost isn't big, but he's not small either.

I think Jost's skating is probably stronger than Browns right now, but you never know how things will turn out with gangly-legged big guys like Brown. Witness Wheels. Brown seems to have decent speed, but needs work on acceleration.

Both have good vision and shots. Jost has quite the backhand as well - more than a few of his goals last year were in close bar-down backhands that caught goalies by surprise.

Still hoping for a lottery win, but there do appear to be some very good selections later further down as well.

Listening to some scouts and one of the things people are pointing out is how good Brown's release is on his shot. Already NHL ready is how I have heard it described.

He actually reminds me a bit of a taller Scheifele when he was in the OHL - not fully fleshed out skating, very good vision, and an excellent shot. Many differences as well, but those traits remind me a bit of Scheif.

Yea 74 points in 59 games is nothing to sneeze at in the draft year.

He's a long way from Scheifele's speed, based on what I've seen. What sets Scheifele apart is his work ethic and drive to get better. If Brown has that, he could be dynamite. Jost, Brown and Keller are all very different C's, each with some very attractive qualities. The #6-8 range is full of Cs and LHDs. Good for the Jets. Watch them draft an RHD.

Scheifele back then was a long way from Scheifele's speed today too. ;)

To me, Brown appears to have very good top end speed, but poor acceleration / first step. Something that's possible to change and develop though.

I agree that we'll probably all get thrown for a loop on their ultimate selection though.

I drew it once and got:

1) CBJ
2) WPG
3) TOR

I'd happily take that tonight. Picking second would be brilliant and it would be a bonus to see the other lottery spots go to Eastern teams.

Something I haven't had to do yet but people I know that are as tough as they come melt when they do this. Good for you for supporting your girlfriend and "being there" SM.

I could see us maybe getting PLD at 6th but no later than that. I'll be watching the lottery tonight, tense moments after 10th thats for sure! I think we will draft well regardless of the outcome, if we draft Sergachev or Juolevi 8th or 9th I won't lose any sleep over it, I'll just be thinking how well rounded our prospect pool is. :) Then that 2nd pick at 22 and an early 2nd rounder gives us some options to add in forwards or defense depending on that first pick!
