This organization is starting to look like the NYI. Confused, indecisive and confused.

Wow talk about an overreaction from people. The Marlies don't play for a week, Gardiner got to play a game instead of being a healthy scratch and now he's back to practice with the team tomorrow. Win or lose last night, this still would've happened.

This is what I want to see from a team that can demote and promote players.

Take advantage of it.

Exactly. Instead of having Gardiner sit on his hands for a week they are keeping him busy. They don't have to put him into the lineup this week, just let him practice with the team. Really don't think this is anything, but following the plan.

I am sorry but 1 game for a top end talent recovering from a concussion, when you have a long lay off until the next game?, how does that make any sense

Yes it also screws him out of the NHL pay rate too. He gets 10 grand a game in the NHL and $800 per in the AHL. Why bag skate a guy after an off night when you can squeeze him for 9Gs as a motivator? Frattin got a taste of that too.

Wow. We're talking about developing a player here. One day of decreased pay is the logic you're going with?

RC probably wanted to scratch him against the rags but give him some work at the same time. With a big team, Fraser/Komi were likely in the lineup regardless.

Maybe they are calling him up so he can collect an NHL paycheque while the AHL is on all-star break.

There was no need to send Gardiner down to the AHL then call him right back up after 1 game does Carlyle even know what he is doing?

Pretty sure he has a better idea of Gardiner's conditioning than you do. And probably has a better idea of what's best for him right now. Or you disagree?

Guy's, you're reading the situation all wrong.

It was a conditioner stint. He just needed to get to Shopper's Drug Mart and back. Carlyle felt he had too much frizz and not enough silky shine.

He was most likely going to be a healthy scratch against the Rangers so instead of sitting him in the pressbox they got him some game action to get his legs under him. Now the Marlies don't play for a while so it makes sense.

Looks like someone here actually has common sense :amazed:

Calm down people. They didn't think he was ready to play against one of the best teams in the league coming off a concussion but still wanted him to get into a game to get back to speed.

Apparently, you and Raging Bull are the only ones capable of using logic  So many overreactions..

They better move some bodies and get some picks for this draft. I hope they are show casing because we could really stand to trade up in this draft year.

McArthur, Bozak, Grabo, Liles, are all movable IMO. If we are to get something in return we need to move something of value.

How does what make sense? I don't understand what you're asking.

He wasn't going to play against the Rangers. He could play 1 game for the Marlies. It's that simple. Let not talk about why they didn't bring any one to the NHL to replace his roster spot though, because that would fly in the face of people making fun of the organization. Reactionary indeed.

Grabo has a 10 team ntc
Liles has a modified ntc (capgeek doesn't specify)

As much as people thinks this sounds smart and makes sense... The issue is WTF is Gardiner even considered as a healthy scratch in the first place to be sent down? That doesn't make sense end of story.

The only thing that makes sense about this move having him a healthy scratch to be even sent down to play a game in the AHL is that a trade is in the works and certain players had to be in the line up as a show case, other wise it's a bull$hit move that did nothing but weaken the team for no reason at all.

Mirtle said he didn't look good even in that 1 game with Marlies.

It's the AHL all star break now. He's probably just up to practice at full speed and keep working and being part of a routine to get his head back in the game.

Pretty obvious RC had no intention of playing him Saturday night. Took the opportunity to make sure Gardiner didn't miss any game action. Certainly better than having him sit in the press box.
