People saying he could if he wanted to aren’t taking into account that he’s set to pass Gretzky when he’s 39. So to get 1000 he would either need to put up 50 in his age 40 and 41 season or average over 30 for his 40, 41 and 42 seasons. He could easily reach a point where’s he’s not capable of that in the next few years and I don’t think he’s playing beyond that point. With no lockouts he likely would’ve had 1000 goals though which is insane to imagine.
