Patches is the only player Im fine with being there....

DD shouldnt be there and Weise neither despite him thinking that he has become some sort of a sniper!

Just a terrible line...

On most contending team:

Weise would be on the 4th line, 3rd at worst. Possibly healthy scratched.

Desharnais would be healthy scratched or a fringe 3rd line player since he's too small to be effective on the 4th line.

So yeah, one of the worst 1st line in the history of the Habs and the worst in the NHL currently loll.

Not in Therrien's genius mind tho.

No...

Weise would be a 4th liner at worst on a real contender, possibly a 3rd liner. Healthy scratched my ass. You really think that guys like Desjardins, Handzus, etc. are better players than Weise? And as a Sharks fan, I can speak to how neither of those guys are better than Weise.

No -- Petrov - Gilmour - Zednik was worse.
But they probably never had a game as bad as Pac - DD - Weise from yesterday.

Wasn't there a Darche-Gomez-Gionta line at some point?

Pacioretty alone kinda rules it out from being the clear WOAT. But yeah, it's up there.

Yeah... But it was clearly the 2nd line, below Cammalleri - Plekanec - Probably AK.

Gallant wanted to play his 4th line against Pac-DD-Weise since he had last change. The results were more than favorable for Florida. Dwell on that for a moment. That means if we have a home game and Therrien thinks deploying it against Florida's 4th, Florida is laughing all the way to the bank.

There there. Please refrain from talking about 'in Canadiens History'. Because that team was nearly 100 years old when you started watching.

And no, that 1st line is not the worst we've seen.

Serioussly, what is that? HFBoards is now a place where emo kids come to vent? Get a grip.

Seriously. Anyone who voted yes are either too young or have a memory strictly stuck in the here and now. Is the line bad? Yes, very much so. That doesn't make it the worst though.

Really it is only pacioretty making the difference.

38 year old Doug Gilmour out produces DD

Petrov was a much better player then Weise.

Zednik was like a poor mans Pacioretty.

The sad thing is those teams had no better options; this years first line is a choice

Clearly there are some people here that weren't around in the late 90's early 2000's. Do a HockeyDB search we iced some pretty terrible 1st lines. Even in more recent years there have been some super questionable lines. I remember a Gomez,Gionta and Moen line or Darche, Plekanec and Moen.

That's not even counting a lot of the terrible lines poor Koivu was a part of.

I agree that we've iced worse 1st lines. Problem is, this team as a whole has better talent when compared to the teams with ****** 1st lines, and instead of capitalizing on the talent we DO have, we ice this ****** line. So in that thinking, yes it's the worst considering the better options we have.

Was Gilmour, who actually did well for us. Only 41 points, but given who he was surrounded by... I remember he played hard, went on the corners, back checked...
http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/leagues/seasons/teams/0000452002.html

Gilmour was signed after Koivu was out for the season (and maybe for life) because of his cancer diagnosis. Habs also picked up Donald Audette that year (2001-2002) and a month later he had his wrist slit after his arm was skated across by a Rangers player. That injury pretty much ended Audette's offensive career.

Killer was an emotional leader for the team during that horrible season and absolutely outstanding for the Habs in a drive for the playoffs the Habs really had no business being in. Theodore won the Hart Trophy that year, and frankly he deserved it! Habs were not a good team.

Petrov - Gilmour - Zednik weren't a great number 1 line, but they had a ton of drive, and worked their ***** off.

The coach that year? Michel Therrien!

centre ice

Honest question. And only lines that have been kept together for a minimum 5 game stretch can be considered as real lines. Not something that was thrown together for a couple periods or a single game.

Is Pac-DD-Weise the worst number one line in Habs history?

Problem with that line and the Canadiens in general is the weakness at Centre ice.
Most people want a better winger for the team....that could help, but our most pressing need and has been for years is our lack of depth down the middle.
We have guys who can play centre....but we need at least 2 skilled play making centres who can play creatively with the wingers we have. DD is a play making center that should be in the AHL. Sorry. Pleks is a good centre but doesn't think offense enough. We need size down the middle.
