Like adsfan said, Askarov is slightly better than Cooley but has been bad in the playoffs. He certainly hasn't earned a game 6 start and the reason they lost last night is because they managed about 10 even strength shots the entire game. Worry about fixing that instead of pondering whether you should go back to the goalie with a .903 save percentage in the playoffs.
Cooley being tied to the net is an issue though. His complete inability to play the puck on dump-ins or any kind of indirect pass using the endboards was a contributing factor last night.

Sure the team could play better but these things aren't mutually exclusive.

I'm not going to say the coaches will see that as a deciding factor in who plays game 6 but it's on the pros/cons list.

So the Memorial Cup final was not even close
Remparts beat Seattle 5-0
Some serious disappointment for those guys, I bet. They’ve been hailed as a team of destiny and one the best junior teams ever assembled, it has to be pretty tough not to sort of buy into that press for the boys. But Quebec sure had their number. Maybe there is indeed something to “Patrick Roy as coaching genius”.

Looks like the Glads will become the ECHL affiliate to the Preds.

This is a good idea. With all the draft picks there should be some extra bodies around in the next several years. And I think they saw with all the injuries the way they had to scramble to find warm bodies to backfill in Milwaukee that it would have been nice to be able to call guys up from the ECHL direct affiliate instead.

Exactly what I was thinking. Milwaukee was already looking full next year without anyone graduating up. It's good to have an official affiliate and a close one at that.

move the Admirals to Atlanta and the Glads to Milwaukee...Atlanta has better attendance than Milwaukee anyways
You can't just do that now. The Preds extended their deal with Milwaukee through 2024-25 already, so that's set in stone.

Maybe Atlanta will just be an ECHL stepping stone to getting a higher level team back in Atlanta, and then that ECHL team will shift to the new Clarksville arena. Or maybe in a couple years, they could think of running Atlanta in the AHL and Clarksville in the ECHL both. It wouldn't be bad to have things close by. But it will take a little time to play out. Patience.

Atlanta population 496,000

Milwaukee population 569,000 and they are disputing the 2020 census saying that there was an undercount.

BTW, the Admirals averaged 5400 fans per game during the 36 home games this season.

Gwinnett Gladiators average attendance during 2022-23 was 4696.

Milwaukee Admirals average attendance during 2022-23 was 5408.

I did the math for you. Milwaukee averaged 712 more fans per game this season.

That is 15% more fans showing up in Milwaukee than Gwinnett.

Vange is wearing his full face shield from period 3 of Game 5. He switched after getting clocked in the head by Cameron Hughes' (#19) stick. Vange sat out the last 4 or 5 minutes of period 2 in the locker room. No high sticking penalty was called for getting clubbed over the head.

Cooley in net. Go MILWAUKEE
Cooley with 7 saves in 6 minutes so far. Once again, Cooley is keeping his team in the game.

Hayden smacking Vange after the whistle. No call. That should fire up the Admirals!

The SOG are 9-6. That is better than 7-1.

CV for Cross Checking (Wittchow. #20 D) . The SOG are 9-7.

PP1 with no shots on goal. PP2 is out now. Ads with no SOG, CV with 1 on the PP.

At 14:19, Evans scores from the back side to make it 2-0. The shot went over Cooley's right shoulder. Evans was alone. There is 4:44 remaining in period 1.

SOG 13-7 CV. There is 4:20 remaining.

Vange was hooked by Rafferty at 16:56. Ads on the PP. Sanford broke his stick, 1.43 on the PP, 2:47 left in the period. Ads have some shots on this PP. They are up to 10.

Jankowski punched by Twarynski. No call. PP over.

End of period 1. SOG 13-10 CV and they lead 2-0.

McCarron with a goal at 1:50! Assists to Kemell and Rueschhoff.

McCarron was just outside the crease. The puck came off of Kemell's stick and Mac had an open net.

SOG 5-0 Ads, 15-13 overall for the good guys.

With 14+ minutes left, the SOG are 9-0 Admirals.

CV scores to make it 3-1, a goal on a wrap around shot at the right post. 14 minutes left.

That is 2 goals where the Ads defense was not in place. Ouch!

Under 6 minutes remaining. The SOG are 12-3 and 22-16 Ads.

Twarynski took a run at an Admiral and missed. He was down and possibly hurt.

There is 4:14 remaining in period 2. The Ads aren't getting many shots.

Sandford clobbered Petman and is getting 2 minutes for Slashing. He had something to say to the refs on his way to the box at 16:04 of the period.

CV is offside on a rush. Kole Lind crashed into the net and broke Cooley's stick.
The PK is over. There is 1:54 remaining in period 2. The Dman sound tired.
Evange and Sherwood working with 35 seconds left. Daccord makes a save with 3.5 seconds.

The SOG were 14-3 and 24-16 overall by the Ads. The Ads are taking long shots.

I have no idea how either one will be in 3 to 4 years, but as of right now, Kemell is looking like the better prospect thane Wright after watching this playoff series.
