Yeah Jack Hughes is definitely > Kappo Kakko. Gorton would accept the Devils would decline.
He's more productive and more flashy. Jack will have the puck a lot more than Kakko and will use his skating to create zone entries, but I think Kakko has a better overall game this season. He's become one of our best defensive forwards. Now - that's not really what you're looking for from the #2 pick. But if Kakko ever finds his production, he'll be a really good 2-way player.
Games played over 20.
Kakko is 1st in takeaways /60. It goes completely unnoticed because you expect him to be an offense machine, scoring goals, and bullying his way to the net. That's not happening. Instead, he's a defensive responsible player. Sounds great for your bottom 6, but ultimately production is what you want out of him. Hopefully he can add that to his game and become a really good player.
Jack will be fine. I'd bet anything he lost most of his gains from the offseason training and hasn't really had an opportunity to continue the change in his strength training. You don't gain 15-20 pounds of muscle during your offseason unless this is your first time working out. I think both need to work on their leg strength.
