Gun to your head, who do you choose for your team? Gaudreaus contract expires earlier so to keep everything even lets say from this season till the end of 2029.

Jonathan Huberdeau (W)

Age : 30 (June 1993)
6'1", 200 lbs

Current season
48GP 6G 20A 26pts - Projected - 81-10-34-44

Career high - 115pts in 80 games
Career pace - 23g 50a 73 pts per 82
10.5m cap hit (expires in 2031)

John Gaudreau (W)

Age: 30 (Aug 1993)
5'9, 175

Current season
50gp 7g 25A 32pts - Projected 82 - 11 - 41 - 52

Career high 40g 75A 115pts in 82 games
Career pace - 28g 54A 82pts per 82

9.75m cap hit (expires in 2029)

Pierre Luc Dubois (C)

Age: 25 (June 1998)
6'3, 220

Current season

48gp 10g 10 a 20ts - Projected 82 - 17 -17-34

Career high - 27 g 36 A 63 pts in 73 games
Career pace - 24G 33A 57pts per 82

8.5m cap (expires in 2031)

I expect the results to be fairly unanimous,

Dubois, followed by Gaudreau, followed by Huberdeau

Johnny Gaudreau here

I'm not just saying that because I'm a Boston College fan, it's because that my actual opinion, the other two players are very disappointing

PLD is much younger and has his contract through his prime.

PLD looks like an obvious choice at first but then i think "How much poison does it take to poison the well?". I'd roll the die on Huberdeau or Gaudreau honestly.

Guadreau pretty easily.
He's having a down year, but he's still the best producer on a bad team.

PLD Is always a passenger that brings an element of poison to the teams he's on.
Huberdeau seems broken.

But give me the one who's the best in a bad situation versus the ones who struggle being secondary producers on better teams

At the very least PLD can play a heavy game and matchup (defensive) role. If Huberdeau and Johnny aren’t putting up big numbers they serve no other purpose.

I went with PLD

Cheaper, younger and if nothing else, he still is 6'4" and over 200 lbs

Gaudreau is the only one who even had any semblance of living up to his deal the first year

Huberdeau at his best looks like a 2nd liner, Dubois is a cancer

if we had to take gaudreau on I’d look to deal Marner or we’d have to let him walk

Why would you not pick Gaudreau and have him on Suzukis wing?
Not the guy you posed the question to but I feel that as much of a dud that PLD has been, he still has the ability to be more of a factor in the post season, if he decides to try. Gaudreau has never been a playoff star.

With all due respect, who said anything about the playoffs? I’m talking about Montreal.

Suzuki- Gaudreau
Newhook-Caufield

And bounce Slaf on these lines

That would make things fun

Gaudreau has been more productive in the playoffs than PLD?

11g 33p in 42gp for Gadreau
10g 26p in 38gp for PLD

Gaudreau has never been a playoff star.
He's had some rough series vs Colorado and Anaheim, when he was essentially double teamed because he was the only real threat on his line. But he was absolutely incredible in that Dallas series - if not for Oettinger he'd have had like 15 points in that series.

He's also had some pretty clutch playoff moments:

If this is just the player contributions the only one that did not backstab his team is Hubs.
I think he was heartbroken being dealt and even though he got the big contract he just does not fit there.
He would be the guy for me if he was happy and eager to join my team because then I could see some really good seasons for him.
If this was including contracts then Johnny Hockey easily since his is the best contract by far.

You expected wrong.

I also chose Gaudreau first. I'm even taking Huberdeau second because he was at least a good player and maybe could rekindle some form on another team. Dubois sucks. Never understood the fuss about this guy.

This is funny, because I came to the same conclusion, but started from the opposite side. I always understood the fuss about him. I was a huge PLD fan when he first arrived in the NHL.

He was one of the few players I actually followed before he was drafted, I paid huge to trade for him in my hockey pool back when he was a rookie, and I thought Winnipeg was brilliant to trade for him. I was a big believer that he'd become a force as a #1C.

I've completely given up on him now. He's burned every bridge he's ever crossed, and now he plays with intensity levels on par with Bobby Ryan or Radim Vrbata. So he's not only a disaster off the ice, but he's bad and lazy on it. He's a dud.

Gaudreau > Huberdeau > Dubois
