You’re argument is flawed IMO. Kucherov was the best player in the regular season, Crosby was swept and McDavid can’t get his team to the playoffs in a weak conference.

Kucherov deserves criticism. He sure did nothing to cement himself as the best player, but neither did McDavid or Crosby. Kucherov is certainly in the “same conversation.”

I think the combination of a sweep after such a great individual season for him/great season for their team and the suspension just made him look bad in the eyes of most other fanbases.

Beyond that, it doesn't say much about Kuch other than he had a really bad few games at the worst imaginable time and made some stupid decisions that cost his team even more.
