I still think Kane is a hell of a playmaker but he's never been very good at defense. He's not the goal scorer some of these other guys can be. It'll be interesting if he ends up on Edmonton how it will work out, maybe too many playmakers and not enough goal scoring. It doesn't seem like an ideal fit to me.

What's the argument against Patrick Kane for being 3rd best winger in the world since he been at a 90+ point pace the last 4 years.

Give Marner Gaudreau's linemates in those down years and he'd struggle at least as much.
At the #3 spot in the voting, why should we be talking about a player who needs help from his linemates to constistently score above a PPG? We haven't really seen Marner play away from other elite players to say whether he's in that category, but there are still guys like Panarin and Kane on the board, who never struggled to produce playing with Stromes as their centers.

Marchand 272-125-211-336
Kane 285-118-234-352

Play away from the puck and everything besides offense are the 2 easiest reasons why Kane is behind Marchand.

Eye test?

Marner really drives the play when he is on the ice.

Panarin and Kane not so much at ES in the last several seasons.

I agree about Marner, but he is pretty much always on the ice with either Matthews or Tavares. Even setting him aside because we haven't seen what he can produce with meh linemates (not that he couldn't do it, just that we haven't seen it), the weak linemates excuse for Gaudreau doesn't hold up to some of the other poll options.

Marner did actually show that, albeit in a relatively small sample size. After the all star break in 2017-2018, Marner's linemates were the likes of Bozak/JVR or Nazem Kadri. He put up 35 points in 31 games, a 93 point pace and followed that up with 9 points in 7 playoff games

He's never been below a 90 point pace since

He should be behind at least 3-4 of the players on this list.
Without fail, the somoene whines about a Leafs player being good.

Panarin, Marner, Kane and Marchand are all on the same tier for me, with Pasta and JG just below. Stone is a wildcard with his injury, but if he come back healthy, he might just leap frog all of them into 2nd or 3rd spot, with Eichel around.

Hes old, not on tik tok, on a bad team, not on Toronto and Chicago fans have all left the building.

Care to list their linemates numbers too?
