So we have game of the year votes from 2011 to 2017 but none from before, so why not do it now?

Slightly different rules since we're talking about old games. Votes can be changed, so if you hear a case or debate it out maybe you'll come out on the other side and you can change it.

Previous years:
2017 - The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - 31%
2016 - Uncharted 4: A Thief's End - 20%
2015 - The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - 35%
2014 - South Park: The Stick of Truth - 15%
2013 - The Last of Us - 29%
2012 - The Walking Dead - 20%
2011 - The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - 48%
Retro Votes:
2010 - Red Dead Redemption - 31.6%
2009 - Assassin's Creed II - 20%
2008 - Fallout 3 - 43.5%
2007 - Mass Effect - 25%
2006 - The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - 22.8%

I don’t know if you can edit poll options, but you misspelled Medieval o_O

Coincidentally, Medieval II Total War is my pick for this year.

I’m not even gonna vote. I don’t think I played anything but sports games in 2006. I feel a burning indifference towards pretty much all of those choices. A terrible year for games IMHO.

FF12, probably my top 3 FF after 4 and 6 (which by the way if I had to recast my 2011 vote, I'd probably vote for the PSP remake of ff4.)

Final Fantasy has been objectively garbage since the late PSX/PS2 era.

Give it to Okami. Still one of the most unique games ever made.

The ff13 series if I'm not mistaken was extremely well recieved in Japan. Just wasn't popular in NA.

But yes after finishing ffxv, the game was just not finished especially the story. I had to google what the ending mesnt(and I actually like it after knowing what it meant but I shouldn't have to google it)

I went with Oblivion as I only played it and World of Warcraft that year.

Oblivion had a lot of flaws, but they could be fixed with modding.

Okami was a good game, with interesting mechanics and a great art style, but overall I felt it just didn't have the same tight design real Zelda games have. And it went on way too long.

That said, Twilight Princess, while a good game, was probably the weakest of all the 3D Zeldas.

None of the games on this list really call to me.

I'm going to go off the board and vote for Guitar Hero II. That was the peak of the Guitar Hero / Rock Band phenomenon before it became over-saturated and started the flame out. But people gotta remember how big those games were at the height of their popularity in the mid-aughts. GHII was not only a huge hit, but it had a really good setlist, received critical acclaim, and won a whole bunch of awards as well.

That's my vote.

Came down to Oblivion vs GoW for me.

Had to go Oblivion. Its my favorite in the ES series. Yes, I like it better than Skyrim.

R6:Vegas was a close 3rd.

06 was a great year. There’s a really good game in basically any genre you want.

My heart says go with Resistance, but it’s clearly not going to win, so I went with Oblivion

Okami remains the only Zelda game I've ever actually enjoyed, so that's worth something.

This is going to come down to a coin-toss for me...aaaaand Okami wins. Sorry FFXII, had Square not shoe-horned a useless main character in midway through development you'd have won outright.

Best Video Games for 2006 as per Metacritic

Tried to find a game I could vote for as a write in......I don't think I played anything but FIFA and Tetris DS in 2006.

One of the worst years of all-time in videogames.

I’m not sure how you can claim it to be one of the worst years of all time when you haven’t played any of the games. The more I look at 06, the more I realize just how many of my all time favourite games were in 06. Our poll doesn’t even have games like Test Drive: Unlimited, MLB 06: The Show, Saints Row, Black, Yakuza, etc.

Bully was and is still great.

Got my vote, Saints Row was pretty awesome too at the time. Oblivion should run away with this though.

Final Fantasy XII is one of the best in the series, and IMO game of the year in 2006.

Kingdom hearts 2. Without a doubt the best game I've ever played, with persona 5 being the only game close to it
