Haven't paid attention to Marleau in a couple of years since he was last an elite player (as well as him usually not standing out when we play the Sharks unlike say Pavelski for example). Does he still have that great speed or has he lost a few steps?

I think it's more just out of the assumption Chicago is one of his 5 trade allowing places.

It's possible just not probable.

SJ would have to retain or take back Bickell and some another player like Garbutt as part of a package. It would be painful to give up TT but it's very possible the Hawks might lose TT anyway because they have to pay bread guy. And SJ would need to be interested enough in TT to accept crap money.

Marleau/Toews/Hossa

Panarin/AA/Kane

looks really fricking good for the next two years. I wonder if Danault is ready for 3C duties.

If Sharks retain 50%, wouldn't be opposed to trading Shaw, Rundblad, and a 1st or something like that.

I don't see any reason for SJ to do that. It would take at the very least a package around TT or Dano imo.

I tend to agree, and Marleau is too old for Hawk's to give up either of those guys. This is a player who would be nice to have, but our ongoing cap issues (that won't go away for a while, I might add) make it very unlikely.

Of course Sharks look to be a tad vulnerable in nets: Doug Wilson may be looking for a goaltender .... just sayin'

Unless the Hawks traded Bickell and someone else overnight with nothing retained but forgot to report it, we simply don't have the space regardless of whether or not you'd think he'd be a good fit with us.

Marleau (25%) for Shaw + Bickell + Prospect (Sharks would probably want Pokka) + 1st

Hawks then cut ties with Rundblad and role with this

Marleau-Toews-Hossa
Panarin-Anisimov-Kane
Teravainen-Kero-Dano
Desi-Kruger-Garbutt
(Tikhonov)

Keith-Seabrook
Hjalmarsson-TVR
Svedberg-Daley
(Rozy)

Crawford
Darling

Would be a bit hard on cap next year with Marleau at 4.875M (That is 25% retained cap) but would open up things cap wise just in time for Panarin/Teravainen/Dano re-ups in summer of 2017

I could live with that.

It certainly is an interesting idea.... but I don't know, I just don't see us finagling a deal that'd fit in our cap space while simultaneously offering more than what other teams may be interested in offering.

Granted, him limiting his potential landing spots with his NTC obviously plays a role.

Nope. Hawks practically gave away Johns for Sharp and his 6 million cap hit to the Stars. If I were Stan Bowman I would be very hesitant to add on any salary beyond this year no matter how much the Sharks retain.

If we are doing a deal to bring in a 5M+ dollar player..

It has to be a defenseman!

A deal of Shaw/Bickell/1st/Pokka (or something) for a:

Oliver Ekman Larsson
Niklas Kronwall
Andy Greene
Marc Staal
Marc Eduoard Vlasic
Dion Phaneuf
Alex Edler

type player

I would love for the Hawks to have all of the D in the world but that gaping hole on the top line ain't going anywhere without a trade.

That hole on the top line ... How about Q gives Dano about 10 games and +15 minutes per night with Toews and Hossa

Will they be a 100 years old line?
