Agreed, it's unlikely that Molson has made a lot on the habs yet. Gillette dumped a close to billion dollar loan on the franchise when he bought it, basically bought the team with its own money after convincing the banks he was good for it. Loria did much the same for the Expos.

Have to pay that off before making money.

I have a solution where.

They could do something like when the Sharks joined the league. I believe there was a single owner for the Sharks and Stars part of the roster went to the Stars. Although I'm not sure how this was arranged. Split the Habs roster, part of it goes to Quebec. Then it's a race next year between the two teams to see who gets the first pick.
