he management of the Montreal Canadiens has been accumulating bad decisions over the past few months and it is possible to see that Geoff Molson remains very silent despite his team's problems.
Martin Lemay of 91.9 Sports tried to explain Molson's silence and the host suggested that the Habs are currently on sale and the owner is looking for a new buyer for his business.
Lemay blew up social networks with his questioning and he gave a few examples including the odd contract management from Marc Bergevin for a few months as well as the situation surrounding Shea Weber.
The CH is currently worth 1.3 billion US dollars according to the famous Forbes magazine in addition to the many investments including land and buildings that belong to the CH Group.
Martin Lemay's storyline is highly implausible, but it could still explain why Geoff Molson is so inconspicuous in the media.

It would make great entertainment for a boring hockey team, but ultimately this is nothing but speculation

Yeah, right.

Option 1: The Habs get purchased by a large media/entertainment conglomerate.

Fans: "Oh no the team is run by faceless corporate bean counters who only care about profit and know nothing about the sport".

Option 2: The Habs get purchased by a billionaire who is passionate about hockey and owning the Habs.

Fans: "Oh no meddling owner will interfere with the team and will run it into the ground".

Option 3: The Habs get bought by Québécor:

Fans: "Oh no too much french they will fire all anglos and our team will be a laughingstock because lol french".

the key is the leader of the ship.
example raptors are owned by big media/telecom. but ran by an amazing leader, you see no issues there.

Legault will buy the team for the province, give it to PKP, and move it to Quebec City.

Molson has already made a billion on the habs. With legalized betting to begin soon, habs could be worth another 500 million within 3 years.
Molson has also said returning the habs to his family has been his legacy project
I find this highly unlikely..
