Guy Boucher to join Habs staff?

Honestly, it really doesn't matter. If Price comes back healthy, MT has a job until he's injured again,... or longer. If this season wasn't enough to get him canned, I can't imagine a scenario that is. So, Price saves his job or if Price isn't good enough to save his job, then we're screwed, regardless of the coach. Pretty much feel like we're stuck between a rock and a hard place at this point. ugghhh...

I don't agree. Simply having good hockey minds in the organization like Boucher is a good thing. And if Price isn't playing .934 SV% hockey when he returns, leading to Therrien getting fired, we already have Boucher available as opposed to him being somewhere else.

If the great MT did not get fired this year, he probably never will......Country Clubs just don't work like dat...

Did you even read the 2nd line of my post? I fully recognized he was going to be an elite player regardless, however Stamkos with Boucher and Stamkos pre-Boucher were night and day.

Yes I did, but basically you said Stamkos sucked before Boucher which is not the case.

Actually, Stamkos scored 50 goals before Boucher came along.

Boucher taught Stamkos how to play defense and made him more of a complete player. Stammer also scored 60 under Guy, something he's never reproduced ever since.

Have you guys been witnessing all the lathering Guy Carbonneau has been getting from his blue-seated colleagues lately?

Last week, it was the likes of Norman Flynn laying it thick while Carbonneau was sitting right next to him and asking how come no one ever asks Carbonneau for advice. They added, how come none of the players ever approach him to discuss certain aspects of the game where Carbonneau excelled?

On tonight's show, Carbonneau was asked if he'd like to go back to coaching and whether he'd accept an assistant coaching position. He clearly expressed interest, saying he's been in hockey all his life and it would depend on the conditions.

Watching Carbonneau's colleagues bring up his qualifications and projecting on how much they'd like to see him find a role with the Habs, is looking quite creepy, especially that they are doing it in his presence. It's downright embarassing. But then again, AC doesn't shun from embarassment, they're built on it.

AC is really a bizarro world sometimes.

Can you imagine if random TSN or Sportsnet staff gathered every night and did a Leafs themed, anglophone Antichambre? Lobbying for coaches and posturing and throwing every non-Ontario born player under the bus at every opportunity... Sounds ridiculous, right?

That's not what they do, noticed the centers they want for next season tonight?

Bergevin and Therrien's egos are much, much too big for them to admit they need outside help. Look at what happened to Craig Ramsay, fired from even just an 'advisor' role! There's no chance in hell that they give any meaningful role to anyone on the outside this isn't already a yes-man or al old friend.

Is he that much of a tactician, or was it St. Louis feeding Stamkos for one-timers?

For the record, I'm all for it.

He ran a good power play in Hamilton and with Voltiguers. At least one year anyway, not sure on others. Tampa collapsed Boucher's final year there but that team had questionable goaltending. We seen with Price this year how erratic goaltending can make a team look. Boucher got a bad rap there, he's a good coach

Anyone see the rumours that Sly wants to go to sherbrooke? It's also speculated that because the team is likely moving to Laval in 2017-18, he is a placeholder.

LOL imagine he coaches the senators

Considering the lack of structure in the Ottawa defensive zone, he would be exactly what they need. Given that the foxhole is 3 people wide (MT, MB and Sly), not sure Boucher has a place with the Habs org... at least not in a capacity he genuinely wants.

Bringing in Boucher is great. Even if its just as some kind of "consultant" or "adviser" because it gets him on our payroll and away from other teams looking for him and because it shows Therrien is on thin ice.

Or Boucher helps the team just enough so that neither Bergevin or Therrien are fired and another team sees how good a job he's done as our assitant/consultant/adviser that they give him a chance at Head Coach. Meanwhile we are stuck with our dynamic duo.

If anything him being on our payroll increases his exposure to other NHL teams, because they'll see first hand what he's doing.

Maybe, maybe not. Most people felt Ramsay was a good hire to help the PP. Does anybody think any of his input was implemented? Was there any evidence of Ramsay's contribution on the ice this season? And he was the only one canned.

First, I can't imagine anybody with intellect getting hired into the organization at this point. The only plausible reason I can see for MT being kept on is that MB knows that MT is so dim as to not challenge his (MB's) thinking and inadequacies as GM. We know that MT loves unskilled grinders and that's all MB can get, so, ..... MT will never complain about his incompetent GM never being able to provide the skill he needs to implement a complex system.

If they brought somebody in that actually thought about things, that would disrupt the dynamic. We've all seen how defensive MB gets when challenged at his pressers. I can't imagine him bringing in somebody who might actually present a challenge on a more personal level. MB's safety lies in keeping people that are more incompetent and simplistic in their thought processes than he is and who will continue to support him. I cannot fathom any other reason for the management decisions since Dec of 2015.
