Hopefully my lazy soft compatriots won't think of Germany as bad as Maverick41.
4-1 Russia.
Damn, another game starting 1:15 am.
Predict 100 fan attendance.

little known fact, but Russian players remember last year well and hold a bit of a grudge for the loss. Hopefully they can take their revenge, but focus on their own game.

There is an increased respect for the German team though, they deserve it.

I bet on under 5.5 goals...should be 3:2, 2:1 for Russia, but woudn't be suprised if Germany pull an upset.

I certainly would be surprised (considering how different this team is from last year), unlike the Slovakia:US game- this would be a huge upset

I think you`re beeing way over-pessimistic

In the games where Germany upset Russia or got close to it, the Russian offense was much weaker and more importantly the German defense was much, much better.

I hope I am over dramatic, but I have no confidence whatsoever in our defense.

Out of curiosity, was Seidenberg invited? The guy is extremely reliable and capable.

He was, but he declined.

If we had at least guys like Hördler, Holzer, Sulzer and Braun I would be a bit more optimistic.
But of course Seidenberg and Ehrhoff are by far our best dman at this point, and missing them does hurt the team, although I would not have expected either of them would have been available anyway.

It would be a major step forward, as they move toward the medal round, if Russia shows more offense today, and, at the same time, better and tougher defense.

This is going to be ugly.

8-3 Russia :help:.

Kotschnew will be starting by the way.

I think Germans will start with a little blitz at the beginning and score early, but later it will be Russian NHL'ers who will generally pull Russia's team, it will end with at least 2 goal lead in favour of Russia. I'd say 4:2 RUS (can be 3:2 GER, if Russians freak out for some reason, like Malkin falls in further depression because of his small hotel room in Stockholm).
