Yeah, a draw sounds about right. Getting that extra point would go a long way, though.

Maybe Bob should’ve pulled Znarok move and switch goalies in shootout, kinda feel that Matiss had no clue what Kazakhs were gonna do. Anyway, good game Kazakhstan, earned victory

I don't understand the reasoning behind giving Kivlenieks a back-to-back game. But, hey, I guess he'll get a break now vs Italy.

Losing to such abominations with naturalized players is always annoying.
We can always point fingers about them, but gotta look at ourselves too. No physicallity, playing soft, shooting 10 shots entire game.
Looked like chaos out there. I'm surprised Latvia even got a point. Feels like we didn't even deserve one.

Oh my days! Are the Kazakhs actually good or were the Latvians still celebrating their win against Canada?

Latvians looked tired. Kazakhs did look better in every single aspect... except for the goaltending.

I'd say after intense game against Canada yesterday and playing Canakstan who had their very 1st game of tournament it's surprising we could somehow survive 65 minutes and shootout. Can't blame them, they were just tired.

I'm not sure why are we supposed to be so surprised. Goaltending aside, Kazakhstan is a decent KHL team.
Most NA people don't know a single player on this Kazakh team so to them Kazakhstan = bad. Sounds funny as well.

Even the point that keeps being made about inferior goaltending - we don't know that. Boyarkin isn't a bad goalie, he is unknown goalie. He is probably no Henrik Lundqvist in disguise but it's not out of the question that he's pretty damn close to KHL level and just never got exposure. In two games I've seen him play so far nothing really stuck out as him being terrible.

Kazakhstan national team is Barys centered to an absurd. Players literally only start to get chances in NT after the move to Nursultan, and them always being fixated to have two foreign goalies since Kolesnik/Yeremeyev retired, it is easy to see why we have this mystery box on our hands.
