Good old Bill Flett. Doesn't even trim the excess around the cheekbones, gives that extra wild man look. Used to rock the same look 35 yrs ago. Showed the wife the photo and she did a double take and asked when did I ever play for the leafs!

Don't remember those stripes on the Kings skates, will have to go and look back at some other Kings photos.

Quite the contrast between Rogie and Ken height wise, was Dryden the tallest goalie during his time? I seem to thimk there might have been another couple of taller goalies, John Davidson was pretty tall as well if I remember correctly.

Davidson is 6'3 but Dryden is 6'4.

I have been closet sorting lately, found my old Hockey World mags, piled in mostly order, last year I had the issue with M Liut on top. He was a hot number there for a while, hardly mentioned at all it seems now. Tough time for goalies I guess in the early 80s if you're not B Smith or G Fuhr, there were a few more who deserve much more mention.

Some beauties the RGO, I love some of these action shots from the O6. That is a beauty overhead of Charlie Hodge, the puck and the players frozen in what had to be a frenzy moment.

That "colourized" pic has a creepy overtone knowing how the events were soon to play out with Bill Barilko, with his disappearance, and 11 years later in thr future when answers where found. What a shot, both Bill and the photographer, classic split second of hockey lore captured. Look at the Canadiens Goalie, even in the stands you can see some people anticipating a chance coming as he shot the rebound.

Had a large bound book years ago, Leafs 50 years, and no one at home was a Leaf fan. Remember reading about BB there.

I recall reading an article some years back about how when it came time to go over the kindly departed man's affairs pertaining to his estate, the authorities discovered that enough cash payments were given to him personally in exchange for single game or even seasons tickets, that it was requested that this money was to be paid back to the estate so the proper income tax reporting could be done concerning these cash payments. I bet there were some other rather interesting stories about what really took place concerning charitable donations Ballard was supposed to have done over the years.

January 6, 1972 - St. Louis players upset at the Spectrum in Philadelphia. The Plager brothers, Garry Unger and Phil Roberto climbed into the stands after a fan poured beer on coach Al Arbour. Several players were arrested after the game but amazingly enough no one received penalties for this during the game!

The date is wrong on this.

He's wearing Steve Penney's gear in this picture, and it's his gear from his first full season (the year after his playoff coming out party) which puts this in the 1984-85 season.

I'm certain it's from that season. Penney, when he first came up and had that playoff run, used a wood coloured VIC stick. The following year he switched to the red Louisville stick you see Plante holding here. Penney clearly had a second set of gear because the pads, catcher, blocker and helmet are all Penney's, but he played in the game where the 75th Anniversary Team was named and came out onto the ice.

Larry Robinson, I believe, was named to that team and then actually played in the game that followed, so he was a current member of their all time team. Quite an honour.
