We shuffled the lines around in the second and looked better, and then we kind of just went back to what we had and got worse again. That was weird.
The Rangers got two goals to get to 2:3 on the strength of double-shifting first Lafreniere and then Panarin. Laviolette thought it was enough for the momentum shift. How long would it even be sustainable?

Anyway I started writing a paragraph about removing Bonino but at least until Kakko is back to provide some options - there’s very little that Laviolette could do at this point. Need patience and hopefully the team and goalies could get back to playing more responsible.

So if Cuylle can't get this working what do we go to next at HFNYR? Kane again? Or do we come to the realization that it's probably a good idea to get K and Z away from one another?
What the hell splitting Kreider and Zibanejad at this point can accomplish? Without capable 3C such move and any resulting combinations will be futile.

They are horrible together at ES.

Putting Kreider on the 3rd line wouldn't exactly be the worst idea. He gets most of his production standing in front of the net on the PP anyway. Maybe with a little less ice time he would skate a bit harder on shifts and throw a hit every so often.

Sorry but I’m going to scream: THERE’S NO THIRD LINE AT THE MOMENT!

Would be to interested in seeing the stats on ES points from our top lines - how severe is the disparity (if there is one) and who’s producing more, or less.

When Kakko is back we kinda have enough players.

Cuylle - Mika - Kakko
Bread Line
Kreider - Zegras - Wheeler (Oh how did he get in there :sarcasm:)

Yea guess you're right. We really need someone who is able to play center on the 3rd line that isnt Bonino or Goodrow.

It’s largely as simple as this. Replacing two of Bonino, Pitlick, Brodzinski and Othmann (Goodrow and Wheeler are not sitting) with Chytil and Kakko will lead to much better possession and team defense than what we’re currently seeing.

That said, organizational depth is clearly thin and injuries are going to derail a Cup run unless they add at the deadline.

Yet they have to stop adding at the deadline if they ever want to be organizationally deep.

Lol at claming Cuylle is being a country club guy getting completely dunked on with facts and then moving the goalposts completely.

Its hilarious how when ever they have games like this "grit" is the issue. No, the fact that they turned the puck over 10923023092309 times and we have a coaching staff that wants to give bad veteran players an endless leash contributed to this.

They actually generated a good amount of offense.

yeah anyone that watched the game last night and thought we needed more "grit" should stop posting immediately and get a CAT scan. we were completely outskilled and outpaced by a more talented team. we have one single defenseman that can play with them.

also it must be said, Lavi has his own awful habits like any other coach. his pets Bonino and Pitlick are one thing, but how many f***ing times was he going to put the Miller-Trouba pair out against their first line? i swear to god they were out there against them for every goddamn shift and they got firebombed every damn time and nothing changed.
