So the upstate was pretty soaked (I didn't see blue sky for three days), but the low country got hammered. Have a bunch of friends in Charleston that were stuck in from the flooding. Random alligators were spotted cruising along.

Ha I was wondering how you fared. I saw the game went on, and looked to be a damn good game. Yep the south got crushed, endless waves were pouring in roughly the same spot for days.

I have to admit, NBTW, I was rooting for Notre Dame. Navy heads to South Bend this week and I really wanted ND to be undefeated heading into the game instead of angry coming off a loss. Looked like a ton of fun on Saturday night, though.

looking forward to that game, im probably gonna get some tickets. a win saturday puts navy into the top 25 for the first time during the season in about 40 years, might be off there (were ranked at end of 2005)

Are you a Navy fan?

my sister went to the naval academy from 2007-11. never paid to much attention to them before then. went to a few football games at navy just to see her and i just fell in love with the passion and atmosphere of navy football. seeing the entire brigade of midshipmen on the sidelines cheering as well as the navy blue and gold at the end with everyone signing it made me a fan. went to the army navy game each year during those 4 years and it was such an amazing atmosphere.

navy plays the game the right way imo, complete heart and love for their brothers. i played college football and the team I was on was a total mess with individual groups inside one team. navy seems like they are one great big family and you cant not root for them

Hah, small world. I went there from 2005-2009. I was in South Bend when we broke the streak in 2007... coolest experience of my life. I love Navy Football.

How do you figure? They run the same offense with better athletes. Niumatalolo is a Paul Johnson disciple.

Keenan Reynolds is the best option QB to play the sport in decades. He's a magician. Navy also has a new D coordinator who is more aggressive than his predecessor. Niumatalolo and Ivin Jasper always call a great game against the Golden Domers so we'll see come Saturday.

With regards to your better athletes comment, I'm not so sure that's the case any more. Navy is recruiting better and better players and their athletes are getting bigger, faster, and stronger. When I graduated we didn't have a single player on the line over 290 pounds. Most of the guys are 300+ now. Our fullbacks this year are the size of our OL and DL when I was in Annapolis.

Ahhh I see that now, your response about Navy recruiting better threw me.

In that case, 66 vs 97....

Navy will never get the "sexy" recruits as rated by Scout. Far too difficult to get those guys into a service academy and commit to military service vs. a career playing sports. That said, they do a terrific job of identifying football players who were overlooked by other programs and can play D1 football at a high level. Still, 97 is higher than they used to be, that's for sure.

Well, we reallty should be looking at the 2011-2015 classes, as those are the players playing this year:

2011: 46 vs. 103
2012: 59 vs. 90
2013: 72 vs. 98
2014: 47 vs. 87
2015: 42 vs. 101

Keep in mind that a large portion of the Georgia Tech team returns that finished last season ranked #8 and beat up on Mississippi State in the Orange Bowl (and damn near beat FSU for the ACC Championship). It's not really close in terms of talent.

Now maybe Navy has that special chemistry this year to significantly outplay the talent gap. And GT hasn't looked all that good this year. But the single biggest advantage for triple option teams is how difficult they are to prepare for. Notre Dame has already prepared for, and played, the best triple option team there is. And Notre Dame is a good team.

Navy will score points on Saturday, barring an abundance of turnovers. Notre Dame sees this offense every year yet Navy has dropped 30 points minimum in back-to-back seasons against the Domers. It doesn't matter that they've played GT already. In fact, if ND tries to play Navy the same way they played Tech thinking that Navy won't make any adjustments, I guarantee Navy will make them look foolish. Niumat and Ivin Jasper are among the best in the game at game planning and making adjustments on the fly.

Navy's issue against ND has been and will continue to be stopping them on defense. Navy typically keeps it close but Notre Dame's size, speed, and strength typically allows them to pull away in the 4th quarter. Should be a good one on Saturday.

Post a review after a few days. I'm using the Roku stick over Chromecast like 98% of the time at this point.

Just had one night to test it (last night). Image quality seems better in my testing using Netflix. Took a while for me to get it to switch to my 5G wifi band. Generally 5G signal is slightly less than the 2.5 band (which is to be expected) but will keep it on that band for a while since there is a cluttered 2.5 landscape considering I'm in a condo and only my 5G band is showing.

I picked up the red one. Form factor makes sense as it is easier to connect to receivers/TVs where space or placement is a bit annoying.

I can recommend the Wifi Analyzer android app. Great for helping pick a better 2.5 channel based on the surrounding wifis.

Finally got around to watching The Leftovers season 2 premier. Best drama/misery porn on TV right now IMO.
Yeah, great start to the season. Though I have no idea what was with the cave woman sequence.

I went ahead and deleted BE from my DVR. It's just not a good show. Stephen Moyer's excellent performance is wasted by the rest of the cast and the amateurish writing.

I only made it through 15 minutes of the pilot before I deleted it from my DVR list. I'm fairly loyal to Sutter (Shield and SOA)....but I just wasn't feeling it.

Wasn't sure about the cavewoman either...aside from its the same location that all this is taking place in...or not. The rest was fantastic though. It just gets me thinking of what it would really be like if something like that really happened.

The dude with the goat made me LOL right away as he walked in...and that no one even reacted to it was even better.

From Tom Perrotta:

One thing I will say is that this cavewoman is a Leftover. She's someone who has survived this inexplicable catastrophe and she's got to move on with her life. In that sense she is somebody who just reminds the viewer that this is an essential experience: to be a survivor and to figure out a way to move on.

So, probably no direct link with the main story, but maybe some foreshadowing? As long as they don't kill off Nora (giggity), I'll keep with this show
