I dont think anyone would have a problem giving him a max contract, as long as he actually plays like a max contract player. This year has not been it.

It's a roster constructed with very little margin for error, and that margin is being completely used up (and then some) by Spurgeon and Boldy not being in the lineup + Kaprizov and Gustavsson not being on their "A" games.
