The District Detroit collaboration is falling further behind schedule as Wayne County waits for negotiations to resume for a needed land purchase.

This article gives a decent rundown as of November. From my understanding one building, the Opportunity Center, has gone up (and it’s unclear to me whether that’s actually a part of the District promised or an adjacent development, but I’ll err on the side of including it).

I feel like this quote is pretty telling:

"The District Detroit is a transformative real estate development opportunity and our teams continue to work together to ensure the project is responsive to evolving market demands and the needs of the community. We look forward to sharing more development news in the future.”

AKA, “we don’t like the market conditions and no one is going to hold us accountable for slacking on this thing, so we’ll build it whenever we feel like it.”
