Reinhart is in his prime has 31 goals and was acquired for a minimal return.
Waiting for the ducks to make a move of that nature
If you read the basic trade info:
Reinhart: #2 overall in 2014 draft, scored 20+ goals in five out of six seasons with Sabres
for
2022, 1st round pick (late first round)
2020, 7th round G Devon Levi
Yeah, that's is steal for Florida b/c that 1st round pick is surely gonna be later in the first round because Florida have been playoff bound for the past two seasons prior to the trade. But I don't think Levi is receiving a lot of acclaim.
From Sabre Noise:
"Why? Devon Levi was arguably the best goaltender in the NCAA last season, And in case you never saw them, his statistics were as follows: 0.952 save percentage, 1.54 GAA, and a 21-10-1 record. He also earned Hockey East All-Rookie, All-Hockey East First Team, and AHCA East First Team All-American honors."
Levi also had an amazing WJC-20 prior going to college. In seven games at the tourney, he posted a 0.964 SV% and GAA of 0.75.
Yes, goalies are fickle, but there's a good track record here. So why would Florida give up such a talented prospect? The team has vet Bobrovsky and drafted G Spencer Knight 13th overall in the 2019 draft. Levi was posting Knight productions, essentially identifying Levi is a first round talent. That would make the deal: two first rounders for Reinhart. It still feels less for Reinhart, but it isn't a minimal return.
