Hope we come out strong. Iirc we tend to struggle against Carolina and Ottawa, Especially on the road.

I looked at the line ups and was amazed by the Carolina defensive pairings. Noah Hannifin on the 3rd pair? That’s not what I was expecting from this youngster.

Name|Games|Goals|Asst|Points|+/-|PIM
Jaccob Slavin| 40|1|15|16|11|6
Brett Pesce|40|1|9|10|13|6
||||||
Ron Hainsey|40|2|7|9|-8|15
Justin Faulk|33|7|9|16|-11|12
||||||
Noah Hanifin|40|2|11|13|-12|22
Matt Tennyson|24|0|2|2|-4|0

How can that 1st D-pairing be +11 and +13 on a team that is -11? That’s amazing! That has to be a big reason Carolina is 12-4-1 at home. This will not be a cake walk by any measure.

If Columbus can shut down that 3rd line of theirs, the Jackets can walk out with 2 points. Aho, Tervainen and Stempniak with 23, 21, and 19 points respectively – from a 3rd line. The Jackets need to forecheck, forecheck, and forecheck. Add one or two PP goals and we have a new streak started. Looking forward to being there this evening (Sec 113) and cheering on the CBJ

Faulk, Hanifin, and Slavin are their 3 best D men. Appears instead of having a top pairing they have split them up. Carolina has a young talented team. I get incredibly jealous every time I watch Aho play. #CBJ passed him up at 29 for Gabriel Carlsson. (as did many other teams in all fairness)

Cincinnati, Oh
Year 4 and I still forget we're in a division with these guys.

Carolina has some guys who can play and Cam Ward is playing really well right now. They're not pushovers. I've watched a few of their games and they kind of worry me more than Philadelphia does. Plus, feels like we have trouble in Raliegh for whatever reason.

I'm calling OTL on this one.

Actually, Slavin, Pesce, and Faulk are the 3 best, by a good margin. Hanifin is still 19 years old and adjusting to NHL speed, and not ready to slide up into the #2 LHD position. Hainsey is still better in that slot.

LOL. First Lack concussed and now this.

If Ward is truly hurt, then you get Leighton with, Jorg Alves as back-up again. Hopefully just a precaution or equipment issue with Ward.

Oh, and like geehaad said, Faulk, Slavin and Pesce have been the best D on Carolina by a good margin. Slavin and Pesce have been great together. The emergence of Slavin has given the Canes the luxury of going slow with Hanifin which is great considering how little experience he had (no USHL and only 1 year NCAA). It also has allowed them to keep Fleury in the AHL.

Intrigued by Forsberg tonight.

Also, I have only one guarantee for this game, and that is Stempniak scoring. Always happens.

Might as well get Forsberg in the mix right away. Bob being sick makes it happen.

Bob is sick, Forsberg in tonight

:handclap:

Welcome to the NHL kid.

IMO, you will see 18 skaters killing it on the ice to help AF in his first start of the season. Should be a good game to watch, and no Metro team is a push over, so I fully expect a battle.

Interested to see how the team plays in front of Forsberg.

Carolina has been another nice surprise this season, so I hope they aren't taken lightly.

Expect the Jackets to play a tight, north-south low-scoring game. Hopefully Forsberg carries over his AHL form.
