Top line Sheary is perplexing. I get that he's the puck retriever and responsible defender needed on that line, but his game has pretty much disappeared in 2023. If he can't contribute here, maybe it's time to go to Snively - cuz Mantha has not really responded to any of the 47 or so 2nd chances to show he's within orbiting distance of his contract value.

It'd only be worth buying him out in the offseason if you don't think he's worth it at 1/3 the salary. Decent chance you can trade him for future considerations at 50% based on Vrana and Kapanen having value at $3M+ so maybe a buyout isn't worth it. Since he'll only have a year left if you didn't want to retain a 2nd should be enough to jettison.

Buying him out is the cheapest option. It’s surprisingly not a harsh penalty on the Cap at all.

There is no reason to buy Mantha out. With a new coach, and an offseason to reset, he'll be able to get some value back next year. Unless you literally think the last 6 years of his career (before this one) were flukes.

Montages/60 is an obscure, little used advanced stat, but I do expect Twabby would have a formula to calculate it's impact.

It’s 1.3M than 2.1M the next year.

Either way that cap space is more valuable than Mantha, by a good amount.
