Get rid of Kari. Dead serious. No overreaction. You can't have confidence in the guy when it matters most.

Even if that was a realistic direction, the goalie market is saturated. There are goalies with better reputations available in free agent and trade (Cam Ward).

You're not going to sign Miller, and you aren't going to trade for Ward. You're worse off moving Kari. Tango's correct he needs a better backup. That's likely the best you can hope for right at this moment.

Kari stays, no question about that.. Campbell is next in line but Kari will be THE guy for the near future..

Kari is obviously THE guy. But it is a legitimate concern if he can do well in the postseason. Hopefully he proves us doubters wrong next season.

Well the season's over, but I have no doubt that we'll be even better next year. Addition by subtraction along with a free agent signing or two. And Brett Ritchie.

Kari will bounce back. Goal tending is highly variable year to year. He had a bad season, no doubt. I suspect he'll be better next year, hopefully with the help of a stronger blue-line.

Offseason priorities:

-Fix the powerplay. Either fire Fraser, find a PP specialist on the backend, and/or get a D-man with a real point shot.

-Get a backup goaltender we can actually trust. Elliot would be great.

-Upgrade the D with a real minute muncher. Eject Gonchar into the sun.

-Get a second line. This team will be a contender if Rousell-Eakin-Garbut is playing the 3rd line because of better options above them.

Kari needs to play 55 games a season and he'll be fine come playoffs. 55 games without injury.

This team needs a legitimate second line center, and hopefully another top four defender. Dillon needs to play like one next year, to be honest he shouldn't have came back this series. He clearly wasn't ready.

Keep Frenchy-Ginger-Garbage line intact, but as the third line. Make a legitimate second line (ideally with a guy like Richards, not some young center like Spooner as the guy). Get a real backup.

It needed more emphasis.

Acquire at least one defenseman better than the ones that we have currently.
Buyout/trade Gonchar.
Sign a capable NHL backup.
Get a #2 Center.

in that order.

Benn-Seguin-Nichushkin
Sceviour-x-Peverley
Garbutt-Eakin-Roussel
x-Horcoff-Chiasson

x-Goligoski
Daley-Dillon
Nemeth-Benn/Connauton

The question is, does Valeri still needs Gonchar around?? I'm all for him staying to mature him if that means that he's going to dominate this league for 10 years on..

I doubt it. Gonchar is pretty much useless on the ice. I'll pay for his ticket out of DFW if it comes down to it.

Please get rid of Gonchar. Cringed every time he was out there in anticipation of a goal. Hopefully they have the balls to just buy him out. There are multiple UFA d-men and even propects in the system that will give us more. Its the most obvious way to improve the defense. Goligoski, Daley, and Nemeth aren't going anywhere. Dillon and Benn should be pretty secure in their positions.

Although I will say this. Dillon is an RFA this season. He was great last season and struggled at times this season and was bad in the playoffs (clearly wasn't ready to come back). If this team has Oleksiak, Nemeth (who has looked ****ing GOOD), and Jo. Benn as part of its future core..along with Daley and Goligoski...I don't think his position is as safe as Stars fans might think. More importantly he actually has value. He is a good d-man and is cost controlled. If it took dealing Dillon to get this team a long term option at #2 C or as part of a package for a legit top pairing D would you do it? Probably better off just to wait but at some point one of these guys is going to have to go.

I'd absolutely trade him in the right deal. I take Daley, Goligoski and Nemeth over him and upgrades are obviously needed. I don't see much extra upside in him.

Eh come on. Dillon has plenty of upside. Bad sophomore seasons happen all the time. Let's not overreact.

I don't know what to think going forward... Kari was off and on in the playoffs, but I still have faith in him. If he can't be a playoff performer in his career, it's a good thing we have two of the most clutch goalie prospects in the world.

As for our defence, I really hope these last two games by Dillon were an anomaly. He needs to be better than he was. Jordie can stick around. He did well for himself and could be a good 3rd pairing defenceman. Nemeth came in and played well given the circumstances. Glad he is looking like a NHL calibre player. I think that gonchar and one of Daley and goligoski need to be moved. Daley + goligoski=Victims of larger teams. Here's hoping Klingberg and Oleksiak can make contributions sooner rather than later.

Forwards? Move Cole and sign Stasney/Richards and fill out the roster with some of our older prospects (Glennie and Mckenzie).

The future is bright hopefully

Sophomore slumps are a real thing. Let's reevaluate on Dillon this time next year.

Sign Stralman, get a guy for the 2 hole, and get a solid backup and we're a much better team. I have a feeling Nill has some huge tricks up his sleeve this offseason.

Based on this season I see a #4 or #5. After his rookie year I would've said a #3. Next season is gigantic for him. It'd be dumb not to upgrade if an option is there in which he would be included.

Regarding Kari.. I'm pulling for him. I really am. But tonight was, again, a night where he didn't give us that big save. 19 goals against in 18.1 Playoff periods isn't good no matter how you slice it. And that includes a shutout.

I think in the long run, Jack has the potential to be the guy that leads us to the cup. Kari, not so much. I wouldn't trade him now, but if by this time next season Jack is absolutely ready, I'm not hesitating on calls for Kari at all.

via ESPN Inside, Craig Custance thinks to take the next step Dallas needs a 2nd line, one more veteran D, and get rid of Gonchar.
