Rumor: Flames close to trading Sarich

The Calgary Flames are closing in on their next trade, as it appears they're nearing a deal involving veteran defenseman Cory Sarich, a league source told TFP.

It's believed a deal could be finalized as early as Tuesday evening.

Murray got two second round picks, one of which was conditional. Regehr got two second round picks as well. Sarich, with his lesser pedigree, should have been able to return at least a 2nd round pick - if he was a UFA at the end of the season.

What madness drove Feaster to offer every fringe player he could 2 year deals last summer? Because of that and the NTC, he won't return much more than a 4th or a weak prospect.
